Courses: learn something, keep the proof

The Knowledge Base can now teach, not only explain.

A pod can mark any category of its knowledge base as a course. Finish every item in it and the pod issues you an accreditation, automatically, the moment you complete the last one. No wallet transaction, no claim button, no waiting.

That accreditation is yours to keep. It appears under Accreditations on your Identity page, next to your roles and tokens. It is issued by the community that ran the course, it carries the name they gave it, and a leader can revoke it if that ever becomes necessary.

It also does something. A pod can require a course accreditation for a bounty today, the same way it can require a role or attendance at an event. Requiring one for a role is the next step, so that a role becomes something you earn by finishing the course rather than something you are handed.

The first course is coming: Basics of Temporal Naturalism, four parts, from the Temporal Naturalism pod. If you lead a pod and have something worth teaching in four to six pieces, you can build a course now. In your pod's Knowledge Base manager, tick "This category is a course," name the accreditation, and add the items in order.

One fix came along for the ride. Private knowledge base items were refusing to open for pod members because of an old check that no longer matched how access works. If a category belongs to your pod, you can read it.

Bounties: credentials now come from your own community

When you post a bounty, you decide who can apply: any SpiritDAO member, members of your pod, or holders of specific credentials. That last option used to show every pod and every token in the whole network, which made it easy to gate a bounty on a community you had nothing to do with.

It now shows only what your own community issues. If you manage bounties for a pod, you can gate on membership of that pod, on any role the pod has defined, or on any token the pod owns. You do not have to hold a role yourself to require it. Only the Executive Pod can gate on SpiritDAO-wide credentials like Proof of Curiosity and Advocate. The server checks the same rule, so it holds even outside the form.

Role-based gates also work properly now. A bounty for Temporal Naturalism Leaders will accept exactly those leaders and refuse everyone else, and the database enforces that when a bid is placed, not just on screen.

Next on this thread: letting a pod gate bounties on attendance at its events, so showing up becomes a credential you can build on.

Grant application: Foresight

We submitted an application to Foresight this week. The case we made is the one above, in plain language: Kairos helps, the code means it can never vote, lead, control money, or change the rules, and the members decide whether it stays. We pointed the reviewers to the constitution page so they could check the limits themselves rather than take our word for it.

Upcoming Events

We strongly recommend registering for events within the SpiritDAO app (Events section) at app.spiritdao.org, it's how we gauge attendance and shape the flow of each session. Links to each event may be found in-app under the Events section.

Town Hall — Mon, Nov. 2nd · 8:00 PM EST - A standing community gathering for conversation, questions, and shared presence.

First Contact — Wed, Nov. 4th · 8:00 PM EST - The official starting point for new members — a peer-to-peer orientation into how participation works.

Feedback Loops — Fri, Nov. 6th · 8:00 PM EST - A live working session where the community helps shape the app. Bring your bugs, your questions, and your ideas.

SpiritDAO is 100% donor-funded. There are no subscriptions, no paywalls, no venture capital. Every community on this platform uses it for free and that's by design. Our runway is small, and every donation directly extends how long we can keep building. If this work matters to you, even a small contribution goes further than you'd think.
