Prelude:
Marnie Michaels (HBO’s Girls) is the most important fictional television character I have ever seen. To be honest, I could never trap someone in an artistic exhibit and blast Duncan Sheik but Booth Jonathan did and I guess for that I am grateful.

Okay this was supposed to be all about the photo, but at this point doing that feels weird. Or perhaps not weird but like, not enough. The internet is a magical place. I have always believed this. Okay so let’s set the stage. On Wednesday, December 1st 2021, Guido Disalle, retweeted a photo from Justin Rosenberg. I pay close attention to the photographers Guido mentions as believe it or not, the guy has quite the eye for great photography. With that said, I decided to give Justin a follow. Almost immediately, Justin followed me back and messaged me. We started talking about photography, NFTs, and Justin began showing me some of his work. I, being an aspiring photographer and in general an appreciator of great photography, was smitten. If I could describe his work in one word, I’d call it advanced. Describing someone or something as advanced is not an adjective I randomly throw out to just anyone or anything. In Justin’s case, it is well deserved. Anyway, one thing led to another and finally I realized, I must support this guy. And so I did.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t throw in here that Justin is quite an inspirational guy. I don’t know the full extent of his story but he has fought off both a drug addiction and an intense case of Crohn’s Disease. As I understand it, he has no colon! (I’ll give the reader a couple of seconds here to try to conjure up the ramifications of that and if you are unable to, don’t fret! I didn’t fully understand what exactly that entailed until my good friend Zac Stone explained to me what it meant to live without a colon. More on Zac Stone later). Knowing this makes it all the more impressive that Justin is able to overcome this adversity and still capture incredible photography.
Enough of the sappy backstory, let’s dive into the photo:

The first thing the reader must understand is that we like Kim (the model in the photo). A quick aside, Kim was born on December 2nd. This is the same day that Britney Spears and Aaron Rodgers (OH WAIT DO WE NOT LIKE HIM ANYMORE?) were born. I know this because I was born on December 3rd and remain forever jealous of those that get to share a birthday with the two legends listed above. I suppose I’ll remain content to share a birthday with Jenna Dewan (she’s Channing Tatum’s ex-wife and I know you didn’t know that).
In the second grade I had to memorize the poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’ by Robert Frost and recite it in front of the class.

My mother suggested I choose this poem to memorize. She liked it. Quite honestly, in the second grade I had no idea what it was or what it meant. I was just reciting lines. Re-reading this poem now in my late 20s, I quite like it. Those last four lines really stick out. And miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep. For whatever reason I really feel that and this image made me think of this poem. It probably has to do with the overall vibe of the image. Kim looks so cold! She’s just standing there naked with her head down taking the cold like an absolute champ! And the winding, never ending road with the bare branches and heavy fog make this photo feel eerie in the best way possible. Let’s put it like this: the surrounding area of this image is lovely, dark and deep and that long, never ending road? (miles to go before I sleep!)
One of the fondest memories I have as a child was taking a train into Manhattan on November 12th, 2011 (I remember everything) for a college admissions interview I had scheduled with the University of Southern California. I’ll never forget how amazing the city looked and felt on that autumn day. The sky was clear, the air was crisp. I love the fall in Manhattan. It’s my favorite time of year. The sky in this image brought back that memory and it really is one of my fondest memories so I did really enjoy this.
I like Kim. I like her willingness to participate in a photoshoot in which she’s walking naked on some vast winding road in the cold in the middle of nowhere in Northern California. The photo is so surreal. Like, do models typically walk naked on a winding road in Northern California with their head down looking like they’re about to tip over? I’m not sure, but thanks Kim for your willingness to participate.
Postlude:
Me and Justin completed this sale on December 2nd, 2021. Remember this date? Yeah! We completed it on Kim’s birthday! And yes, Justin is a great guy and gave Kim a portion of the proceeds from the sale. What a great birthday present for Kim! I’d also like to note here that through Justin I was introduced to legendary, world-renowned fashion photographer, Zac Stone. In fact, I spent the majority of the day at Zac Stone’s apartment on December 4th assisting him in getting ready to mint his work to the blockchain! Keep in mind that I am merely just some random guy who lives in New York that bought a piece of art from Justin on the blockchain. But, I think this is what is so special about this whole NFT space and I’ve only recently experienced this through collecting art. Each piece you collect is potentially the beginning of a relationship between artist and collector. I’m really glad that I met Justin. He’s a really talented and nice guy. I am very excited to see the trajectory of both him and Zac Stone here in JPEG world. I believe it is up!
Justin Rosenberg is a talented photographer based in Los Angeles, California.

His work can be found on MakersPlace, Foundation, and OpenSea
Also in purchasing this piece, I was able to support Kim’s Bugle habit as seen below and for that I am happy.
