After learning that one of the residents in Muntinlupa City recently died and who I considered like a dad to me while I was staying there. I was asked to report to work on the first day of work for October, even though I knew that the contract had expired on September 30. I couldn't focus on creating an article for BitPinas and asked if I could be excused from work. Request was granted. 

Last Monday, they decided to withdraw the extension of my contract with BitPinas as their full-time featured article writer because they are taking a new direction for the well received web3 publication. I accepted the termination of the contract and honored them. 

I have learned a lot from working with Mike, together with the current and previous employees of BitPinas. Honestly, this was my first time to be part of a news/media team. It was one of my dreams, when I was young, to be a journalist. You get to go places and report what was going on and at the same time learn a lot about blockchain technology. From translating whitepapers of different blockchain games to a readable article, trying to learn technically written articles and convey it to an article that an average reader would understand, properly reword my sentences to make it article worthy, to researching on a timely topic and verify the facts from different resources. 

I had the chance to meet different people, online and offline, in the web3 space and in corporate institutions from CEOs, business leaders, entrepreneurs, community builders, developers, gamers, and web3 enthusiasts. Sometimes, I get that tap on the shoulder and a sudden “hi” and “hello, Ninong” will catch my attention and I would try to figure out who they are because it is really different when you get used to their web3 identities and finally you will meet them in real life. Probably, in the near future, we would have those web3 glasses to see our own augmented avatars and names to recognize each other in real life.

Many memories with BitPinas, I am very much grateful for the opportunity given.

Now, it is a new chapter and a new beginning. 

Last month, Siftcroix was calling for volunteers to help him build the community for Community Managers, Moderators, Shillers, Marketers, and other web3 community building roles. It was fortunate that I was one of those who answered the call. 

Initially, it was branded as Filipino Community Managers and later on we, Siftcroix, Lupin and I, decided to rebrand to Filipino Web3 Community Builders. This is to cater to all roles that contribute to building up the communities within web3 projects, whether it is crypto trading, blockchain developers and innovators, gaming guilds, decentralized finance (DeFi), and non-fungible token (NFT) projects. The community is growing organically. Currently, we have 600 plus members on our Facebook group and more than 200 in Telegram. And recently, we have interviewed six amazing community builders and we have onboarded them to the core team. By the end of the week, we would probably commission them on their tasks to help the growing community.

Speaking of communities, another milestone we have was being considered as the first Community Rockstar by Nas Company (formerly Nas Academy) during our Metaversity community huddles last Wednesday. We have shared with the community how we, as a community member, can contribute to the growth by having that same “bayanihan” spirit we Filipinos have. The sense of the community helping one another and caring for one another. The willingness to help and serve without asking anything in return. As if considering our web3 communities as our own extended family. Thank you Jacq and RJ of Nas for this opportunity. 

Later this day, it will be my last segment as Community Rockstar and will join Luis Beneventura and Celeste Rodriguez in the panel. I am excited to see more Community Rockstars soon!

Anyways, there are a lot of real life events going on and unfortunately because of the financial constraint we may not be able to go but hopefully soon we can travel and share what is going on.
