The morning greeted him gently, like the first note of an unfinished melody. Phoenix stood on the terrace of his house, hose in hand, watering his small plants. Water flowed slowly, dripping onto the green leaves and creating a soft rhythm that blended with the morning birdsong and the breeze blowing from the distant rubber forest. It was in that moment that he felt himself — his folded wings resting calmly, the red-orange flame in his chest burning steadily, not a wild blaze, but a small ember carefully tended with love so it would not extinguish in the night wind.

Today was a day of rest, a sacred symphony of silence. The body that had burned itself for days in front of the classroom, the soul carrying the remaining burden of the house mortgage, was now regenerating. Rest was not an escape, but a process of recharging so that tomorrow he could fly wiser, calmer, and more fully for the children of the nation.

At the breakfast table, warmth flowed without words. The aroma of warm rice and simple side dishes mingled with his wife’s gaze and the smiles of his children. He felt a deep gratitude — this family was the root note that kept his rhythm stable amid life’s challenges. Afterward, he took his second child on the black motorcycle through the rubber forest. The morning breeze blew softly, the leaves whispered, and the motorcycle tires hummed over the rocky ground. The child sat tightly behind him, and in his chest grew a warmth that pierced the still-cool morning air.

Then he took his wife on the motorcycle to the market. The sound of footsteps in the market, the aroma of fresh fish and green vegetables, and the friendly bustle became part of the melody of everyday life. After picking up his second child, he stopped by Paradise Garden. From a distance, he watched the children of the nation practicing marching band. The drums and metallic clinks echoed gently in the afternoon air — a song of the future being shaped. He did not approach, only watched with quiet pride in his eyes. Here, his small flame also sang along, even if only as a loyal listener.

Afternoon approached. The congregational Dhuhr prayer at the mosque near the house felt like the warmest verse in the day’s melody. It was not just movement, but a long breath in which all fatigue and worries were released, replaced by a warmth that penetrated the depths of the chest. He returned home, ate lunch with his family, then took a deep, restful nap — body and soul absorbing the healing notes from the earth.

In the afternoon, the laughter of the children playing PlayStation with their father became a light and cheerful rhythm. Night drew closer. The Isya prayer at the mosque once again brought deep tranquility, like a slow yet powerful prayer melody.

Then they rode the motorcycle to the volleyball field behind Paradise Garden. There, a Reog Ponorogo and Kuda Kepang performance welcomed the night with resounding gamelan music. The sounds of kenong, kendang, and traditional trumpets split the darkness. The majestic Reog dance and the agile Kuda Kepang performers danced under the field lights. The children were captivated, their eyes sparkling. It was at that moment that the warmth truly pierced the darkness — the traditional music was like a melody of life that never dies, flowing from generation to generation, touching his soul as he rested.

It was nearly midnight when they headed home. The roads were quiet, cold, and pitch dark. The night wind pierced the skin, but in his chest the small warm flame remained. The sound of the gamelan still echoed faintly in his ears, mixing with the heartbeat of the children sitting on the motorcycle. The warmth of family, the pride of being a father and teacher, and the quiet commitment to the Education Impact Fund — all merged into a melody that continued to play, piercing the darkness of the journey home.

Upon arriving home, they rested. In the silence of the bedroom lit only by a dim light, he closed his eyes in peace. The ember in his chest still burned gently. Today had taught him once again: conscious rest is an important part of his journey. From ash to ember, from fatigue to new strength, from darkness to the melody of warmth that never fades.

Tomorrow, his wings would open again. The flame of dedication would continue to burn — softer, deeper, and fuller of love — for his students, for his family, and for a brighter future.
