Introducing Tide

The discovery and attention layer for community engagement

It takes community. Especially in Web3.

Communities are people. Not abstractions or rhetoric. Groups of individuals defined by sharing something in common, bonded by strong interpersonal connections, and feeling some sense of belonging.

The most organic and vibrant ones are those where participants are committed, active, and inclined to welcome diversity as an opportunity to solve problems collaboratively.

Any project should design products and services that can be fully supported and shared by their communities. To do so, they should seek members’ engagement, and to achieve it, they should realize who the members are and what are their shared attributes.

Yet participants are not monolithic, and modern communities may be huge, diffuse, and diversified. So we believe it is important to think about people in clusters, deeply understanding those common traits defining the strength of the various connections.

On the other hand, the transparency and openness brought by web3 can empower individuals to better assess the values and goals of the different projects they want to join. We believe they should be able to evaluate who the members are, how they interact, what are their interests, characteristics, habits, and needs.

Community Engagement is a critical problem in web3

Communities are the backbone of any successful web3 project. Building organic and vibrant ones has proved so far to be a challenging activity for most projects in the ecosystem. Indeed, many activities in crypto communities have very poor participation.

Interviewing more than 150 crypto businesses, we found they all face the same major pain points:

  • Absence of community analytics: projects are unable to identify community interests and deliver personalized experiences. This is mainly caused by their incapability to perform sophisticated on-chain research to analyze users’ activity and understand their behavior.

  • Lack of prospective members reach: communities struggle in finding future potential members, and this is mostly caused by their inability to leverage on-chain data and identify users sharing similar interests. Moreover, even once identified, the problem of reaching them out through an effective web3 tool stands still.

  • Spam, Bots, and fake members: non-organic actions have too often exploited huge portions of the resources allocated by projects in marketing and growth. Furthermore, bots distort engagement, causing evaluation biases on community involvement.

But these problems are just one side of the story.

Users are not the owners of their data

Web2 platforms and apps simplified interactions among people, content streaming, shopping, working, and many other activities. Tech giants have made a fortune monetizing user data.

So far, users have not benefited from their data sold by third parties. But web3 is finally giving the power back into the hands of users.

Nevertheless, owning your data leads to a new problem.

Users find it difficult to discover new services, products, and activities in line with their preferences. Now that they are no more suggested by tech giants, users need to find new ways to properly “surf on web3”.

Tide can solve the aforementioned issues.

What is Tide

Tide is a discovery and attention layer connecting users and projects based on interests and incentives. A social app everyone can use to build sustainable communities and engage them.

Users can finally discover new projects, services, and activities in line with their interests and access direct communication channels with them, earning income for their data.

Projects can connect with users through an “attention marketplace” built by leveraging on-chain data, stimulating interactions, and encouraging community engagement with web3 rewards.

At Tide, we want to empower anyone to discover, join and grow organic and vibrant communities by matching interests and incentives.

Value proposition

We are building a social app everyone can use to discover and join communities and projects that match personal interests. It is possible to navigate across the web3 ecosystem and trade attention to earn incentives or rewards.

On the other hand, it is possible for communities to engage people, grow their awareness, incentivize their actions, and attract new members sharing common values and habits.

Our infrastructure sets the foundations to better connect people with products, services, brands, and more so that it becomes easier to build and grow sustainable communities where every member can provide value.

We are launching the first Waves in collaboration with several web3 projects, allowing community members to discover new projects, services, or activities in line with their interests.
