Walking through the two floors of the main building of Quinta da Trindade is, at the same time, taking a journey through the history of tile-making in Portugal. It is a very rich collection, with around 8000 tiles, with a very wide chronological scope. In this farmhouse from the end of the 14th century, there are Hispano-Arabic tiles from the 15th century, checkered tiles from the 16th century, patterned tiles from the 17th century, very rare transitional panels from polychrome to the blue and white tiles from the end of that same century and even a panel with the toponym of Quinta da Trindade from the Lusitânia factory, already from the 20th century.

The origin of Quinta da Trindade dates back to the end of the 14th century, when a convent was founded by the order of the Holy Trinity, who also founded the hermitage of Boa Viagem in the same space. The 1755 earthquake destroyed both structures and the reconstruction of the building was the responsibility of Manuel Martins Gomes Júnior, also known as the King of Trash or just Martins, who also built a smaller structure with a square plan, similar to a small castle. .
Throughout the building we can find, in addition to the significant tile heritage, 18th century paintings on the ceiling of one of the rooms and architectural elements from various eras, remains of figurines from convents, monasteries and churches that were abandoned after the extinction of the Religious Orders in 1834, and which Martins collected and applied at the Quinta. Also worth mentioning is the garden with exotic trees and a small neomedieval pavilion, known as the beach house, as it gives direct access to the river.

The Nucleus of Quinta da Trindade is installed in the residential area of the former agricultural property, located in Azinheira, Seixal, where a building classified as Property of Public Interest (Decree n.º 516/71, of 22 November) is integrated. In addition to reserves and other technical areas, the Conservation and General Inventory Service, the Architecture Service and the Architecture and Cultural Heritage Area are installed.
