In the middle of a hectic continent
a place of tranquility rises:
slopes, cable cars, summertime snow.
Dahus, marmottes, edelweiss,
and a rainbow on the mountain.
Back in 2011, I found a poem in a fountain. In a park in Hong Kong. I shared it on my blog, which I had back then. There was a comment from a friend on that post that inspired me to do more with my poetry. In 2012, I posted a poem to my blog daily, and let people who took part in a crowd fund help me select 52 poems for my first poetry bundle. It was a fun experience, and since then I have not let go of that poetry thing.
My blog no longer exists, after a detour, I landed here, on Paragraph, where I now share poems. Different, but still the same. And when I saw that rainbow on the mountain earlier this week, I decided to revisit that fountain poem, and write a mountain version of it. I hope you like it.

The mountains are also for cycling. Whether it's downhill like our son loves to do, or a race like the Tour de France. It's beautiful, and it's challenging. Today also happens to be the day the Reborn Trip 2025 starts. A bike ride from Paris La Défense to the summit of the Tourmalet in the Pyrenées. It's a tour of 1000 kilometer, and the people riding it are French and asylum seekers. It's a beautiful gesture of humanity. Here's a short video about the 2022 ride. It's in French, but YouTube has generated closed captions.
