Their words bring food for thought to you,
chew them, swallow and digest them,
polish them as a shiny gem,
and you will be your own guru.
Influence is everywhere. From our political leaders to social media influencers, from the books we've read to the teachers we've had. We can easily drown in all the ways of living we are fed and feasting on. In that bonanza, it's easy to be overwhelmed. It's easy to get lost. And then it becomes easy to take the thing that makes the most sense, and follow that. There's always a person that will take advantage of that, and will lead you down paths that are destructive. To you, to the people around you, to the world. It's important to not let that happen, to not let yourself be put in a camp of one of the warring tribes. It's good to take in the lessons and opinions of others, but you always need to keep thinking for yourself. And not, that does not mean rejecting the ideas of camp A (for example "mainstream media") and then following the ideas of camp B (for example "there is no climate crisis"). Independent thinking is to take the information you see, and weigh it. Look at the arguments. Are there sources you can check, what are the arguments. And are these arguments sound.
In the end, it is your life, your environment. You decide. Be your own guru.
