5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection
UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured.

THE JOURNEY

TWIN FAIRIES

AMA SUA

AMA LLULLA

LA MAREA

Passing on tradition and culture becomes harder and harder with the advancement of technology. Younger generations strive for the excitement and promise of a job of metropolitan areas. This leaves behind traditions that become obsolete or less glamorous. Where this conflict can converge and survive is the art of Quilla Nina who is telling the story of heritage of Argentinian and Peruvian people. Preserved forever for future generations to look back with fondness and reignite a passion for the culture.

These creatures may be faceless and soulless creatures of Trout but not devoid of depth. Their souls have been sucked out by our screens in HYPNO or their emotions explode into the sky leaving their bodies in FEELINGS. Each piece tells its own story of depletion but also a spirit of resilience. Maybe we’ve looked at skulls, spirits, and hauntings as negatives and perhaps if we reshaped the narrative we could see them all for what they truly are, especially in Trout’s art, survivors.

Creative coder and composer Rangga Purnama Aji has a multitude of experimental art and music for his audience to unpack. Some have all the meaning that can be crammed into what limited space Rangga is given on the various Tezos marketplaces while others have “no meaning at all, only accumulation through video and sound.” Rangga’s art accompanies his music perfectly as if the music were a sentient being creating the visuals.

The Buffer

Layer #42

Layer #37

Antonio Werli’s project The Queue Structure was conceived through analog means (no coding) as a performance piece in 30 days comprised of 90 layers. Those 90 layers then became a variety of other randomized creations like The Buffer, The Task, The Gamble and The Error. Through this process, we’re given a wide variety of abstract glitch art. You can even see the progression of this process as the layer begins to give way from the grey monochrome of Layer #27 to the explosion of color in Layer #34. Each piece in between serves as a step in the creation process and the transition of one form to the next as if you’re watching the creation of a universe.

Landless

Mahnaz Saadat Kia shows us what real women look like in her series Existence. Each nude woman bares everything without photoshop or edits, their imperfections, and their beauty. These mostly monochromatic drawings contrast her vibrant series on foundation Rise & Shine. Each piece shows a group of clothed women and one headless mannequin making an interesting statement about clothing, nudity and the female form.
Each UNDRGRND DIGS will feature artists our curators have purchased for the UNDRGRND Collection.
