Succinct is an infrastructure project focused on providing a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) system. It aims to simplify the development of ZKP-based applications through two core products: SP1 (Succinct Processor 1) and Succinct Network.
Succinct offers a decentralized proof environment designed to standardize, improve efficiency, and reduce costs through three main components:
Proof Standard: A framework that allows any ZKP system to integrate into Succinct, as long as it follows the predefined standards and logic.
Proof Marketplace: A marketplace where proof creators (provers) can earn rewards by offering computational resources like CPU and GPU.
Proof Aggregator: A tool that aggregates proofs from various verification systems, aiming to reduce verification costs and enhance efficiency.
In this system, proof generation and verification follow a streamlined process: ZKP systems integrate via Proof Standard, provers earn profits from the marketplace for providing computational power, and verifiers use Proof Aggregator to lower costs.
Succinct’s ZKP system can be applied to various fields such as light clients, oracles, machine learning, cryptography, and security. Key applications already developed include Blobstream (a data availability solution for Ethereum), Telepathy (a cross-chain communication protocol using zk-SNARK proofs), and Tendermint X (a light client for Tendermint).
Succinct Processor 1 (SP1): An open-source zkVM (zero-knowledge virtual machine) that enables developers to write ZKP applications in Rust or other languages compiled via LLVM. It provides a flexible and user-friendly environment for optimized ZKP development.
Succinct Network: A dedicated appchain platform designed specifically for ZKP applications. Developers can use SP1 tools to build dApps on the Succinct Network. Its infrastructure includes:
Application Layer: Hosting ZKP dApps in areas like rollups, coprocessors, and oracles.
Network Layer: Ensures high transaction processing speed and completion.
Prover Layer: A system of provers that generate proofs for data verification, earning rewards based on efficiency and reliability.
Developers: Can easily build ZK dApps and proof systems using Succinct’s platform.
Applications: Benefit from outsourcing proof generation to network provers at low costs.
Provers: Participate in the proof marketplace to earn profits through their computational contributions.
Succinct’s design enhances the ZKP ecosystem by reducing fragmentation, optimizing costs, and facilitating easy ZKP application development.
