⚠️ Update (Sept 1, 2025):
We have decided to pivot the Farcaster Builder Bootcamp into the We Them Media: Content Creator Bootcamp (MVP).
Instead of building new apps, this new structure centers creators as the drivers of adoption — experimenting with mini-apps, telling stories, and amplifying culture.
👉 The new start date is TBD (timeline will be shared by the end of September).
In the meantime, we’re putting our energy into internal restructuring and covering ETH Safari & ETH Accra over the next 20 days.
Thank you to everyone who registered, volunteered, and partnered with us for the Builder Bootcamp. Your energy and support remain central to this new direction. This isn’t a cancellation — it’s a realignment. 💜
We Them Media is a pan-African media DAO building a more inclusive Web3 future by building a platform for Black and African voices around the globe. We’re excited to announce the Farcast Builder Bootcamp, a 4-week virtual sprint to onboard and empower developers—especially across the African continent and diaspora—to build innovative mini-apps on Farcaster.
🗓️ Dates: September 1–27, 2025🌍
Goal: Onboard 100–150 builders and ship 20–25 mini-apps that bring new communities onchain
We’ve spent the last three years meeting the people pushing Ethereum forward from Africa to the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. From Nigeria to Ghana, Ethiopia to Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Bahamas—our 60+ interviews and IRL activations have shown us the power of media to onboard communities.
Now, it’s time to build.
Mini-apps (on Telegram, Farcaster, Line, and beyond) are quickly becoming the dominant method of onchain interaction. We want to:
Give new and emerging builders the opportunity to learn, build, and connect
Help devs leverage this new wave to gain visibility and build reputation
Cultivate a new generation of contributors and innovators for our DAO
Whether or not the Purple app eats the world, smart contract-enabled apps are coming. We want our people on the frontier—experimenting, collaborating, and pushing the needle forward.
Mini-Apps for DAOs & Governance Tools that enhance collective decision-making, coordination, or treasury management. Best for builders interested in DAO tooling, multisigs, and coordination UX.
Mini-Apps for Community Engagement & Social Tools Social dApps, onboarding solutions, and gamified participation systems. Ideal for social devs, Farcaster tinkerers, and culture builders.
Mini-Apps for the Creator Economy & Public Goods Apps empowering creators, NFTs, open-source projects, and public goods funding. Perfect for creatives, builders, and supporters of onchain culture.
Vibe Coding & AI Agents Track Exploring how developers can merge creative coding with AI-driven agents to build intuitive, playful, and automated mini-app experiences on Farcaster. A sandbox for experimental coders and AI-curious builders.
We Them Media Track Exploring how We Them Media can surface its content in new ways, engage audiences with mini-apps, and imagine new tools for a community-driven media network to thrive across platforms. Ideal for contributors, media devs, and fans of We Them Media.
Open Mini-App Innovation Experimental or cross-category projects that push the limits of Farcaster and DAOs. Wildcard space for unique ideas and first-time builders.
💰 4.5 ETH in bounties and support:
3 ETH for flagship app bounties (DAO tools, media innovation, creator infrastructure)
1.5 ETH for beginner-friendly and micro bounties
📣 Promotion & Community Support
Weekly community calls, mentorship, and check-ins
X Spaces panels + Discord Vibe Sessions
Live speaker sessions streamed to 500+ viewers
Highlight clips distributed across YouTube, X, Instagram, TikTok, Zora, and Farcaster
50+ attendees per space and 100+ replays expected per panel
20K+ combined reach across our community partners
All projects will be judged on usability, originality, execution, alignment with track goals, and cultural relevance. Bonus points for community value.
Creative Alchemy, NounsDAO Africa, Hussle Yangu, Everybody Needs Base, Aquari, BuildaDAO, NFTs Africa, Devdorm, Let’s Build a DAO, and more. We’re working closely with Web3Bridge’s 13th cohort, and dev networks across Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
Confirmed volunteers, speakers, and supporters include:
Sirsu, early Farcaster contributor
Bixbite & Mike Good from Lil Nouns
Purple DAO community members and mentors to be confirmed
Grow our contributor network and DAO participation
Support new builders and tell the story of their journey
Explore what mini-app infrastructure looks like for We Them Media
Help prototype tools the creator economy is still waiting for
We’ve helped 200+ people get their first wallet and enter Web3 in the last 3 years. This is about giving them new ways to stay involved—and surfacing the builders who will shape what’s next.
This Bootcamp is also a testbed for:
Generating contributors aligned with our mission
Identifying problems in creator infrastructure
Imagining new ways for communities to operate autonomously using mini-apps
We have yet to raise funding for this Bootcamp, but we’re incredibly energized by the momentum and know the Web3 community will rally to support the vision. We’re inviting aligned protocols, DAOs, and ecosystem partners to step in as sponsors, mentors, and community builders to help make this real.
We’re building this together — and there’s a role for everyone.
Whether you're a developer, mentor, speaker, DAO contributor, or community organizer, this is your invitation to help shape a more inclusive Web3 ecosystem.
