Solving the gas problem
Originally posted on September 20, 2024 at labs.wonderfi.com/blog Gas fees are a fact of life when interacting with the blockchain. Like a car, you need gas to get to where you want to go. As the blockchain grows more popular and gets congested, just like gasoline, the price of gas fees continue to rise. WonderFi Labs is working to bring a user-friendly, gasless experience to our L2 network and beyond. All blockchain networks, including Layer 2 solutions, generally require users to pay gas fe...

Come meet Gobi, our senior product manager, as he talks about his work at WonderFi Labs, how he wants to improve the blockchain space, and what he gets up to on his days off!
What three words would you use to describe WonderFi Labs?
Innovative, scrappy, global.
What’s your go to explanation of how crypto works?
You have the ability to fully take ownership of the things you buy. You have the ability to send money across the world instantly and for nearly free. The ability to have a true peer-to-peer system with no middlemen extracting unreasonable value.
This is the natural evolution of money: seashell to precious metals to paper cash to cryptocurrency. Each evolution aimed to improve some vital flaw in the iteration that came before it.
Which environment do you prefer for getting focused work done?
What’s the improvement you’d like to make to blockchain technology? Or what’s the one problem with blockchain technology you’d like to solve?
Abstract away the complexity of blockchain.
We use the internet every day without needing to understand an IP address, a domain name resolver, internet protocols, firewalls, etc. I type Youtube.com into my browser and I'm immediately enjoying content.
We are still in a state today where users need to understand wallets, different blockchains, fees, etc. I'd like to build a future where people are interacting with blockchains every day and it's all happening in the background.

What’s one thing you’ve learned from your colleagues?
Collaboration is king. There are no bad ideas when the focus is building new and interesting things. Be open and listen well.
What’s the best part of your job? What’s the worst part of your job?
😄 Best: Getting to collaborate with some of the smartest people I've ever met to build cool things that people will truly enjoy using. Getting to research and try out new and emerging tech in the crypto space to understand and predict what direction things are moving.
😖 Worst: Not enough time in a day to do all the things I'd like to.
