The Turkish space agency announced that it launched a domestically produced sounding rocket SR-1 on August 12 local time from Igneda, Kerclareli province in the northwest of the country.

In a statement, Turkish Defense Industry Chairman Gorgun said: "We have crossed another very important threshold in domestic and national rocket technology. Thanks to the successful launch of our rocket, our space research will make great progress."

According to reports, the rocket is developed and produced by the Turkish military enterprise Roketsan, the payload is 100 kilograms, the rocket target height of 550 kilometers, it is not clear how many kilometers the launch reached the height.

Roketsan reached an altitude of 135 kilometers in 2020 with the Sej M SeK probe rocket.
