Carbonvote
(Presented by @Veronica and @Reno)
Veronica and Reno presented Carbonvote, a governance tool designed to facilitate community decision-making through a decentralized voting system. Originating in 2016 during the DAO attack, Carbonvote aims to signal community sentiment on various proposals. The platform allows users to create polls with different voting power mechanisms, such as requiring holders of specific tokens to participate. During the presentation, they demonstrated live voting on key governance questions, showcasing how the system operates in real-time. The integration of Carbonvote with Farcaster enhances its functionality, enabling users to link their voting credentials and engage in governance discussions effectively. This innovative approach emphasizes the importance of community involvement and aims to streamline the decision-making process within decentralized organizations.

Gardens
(Presented by @Paul)
Paul introduced Gardens as a modular conviction voting platform designed for community governance. He explained that the platform allows communities to upload a social contract, known as a covenant, and choose a governance token that members can stake to join. Gardens facilitates the creation of multiple conviction voting pools, which utilize time-weighted voting to enhance decision-making stability. This method, developed from research by BlockScience, helps filter out inaccurate or malicious signals by introducing a time element into the voting process. Paul highlighted that any community member can propose initiatives, and as support for these proposals grows over time, so does their conviction. Gardens has been operational since 2021, and the recent updates have made the system modular, enabling communities to create various governance instances tailored to their needs. Currently, Gardens is running experiments across different use cases, including seasonal funding and council elections, to refine the platform and gather feedback for future improvements. Paul expressed enthusiasm for integrating Gardens into the Zuzalu City ecosystem, aiming to enhance collaborative governance within the community.

Topology
(Presented by @guiltygyoza)
@guiltygyoza presented on Topology, a project focused on enhancing collaboration in the Web3 space by introducing a new type of memory akin to RAM for decentralized applications. The core idea is to address the limitations of current blockchain architectures, which often rely on CPUs and hard drives, leading to challenges in privacy and scalability. Topology aims to create a decentralized, peer-to-peer memory system that operates quickly and preserves user privacy by allowing personal data to be stored at the edge of the network. This innovative approach is designed to facilitate seamless collaboration without requiring trust between users, leveraging technologies like Operational Transformation and CRDTs, which are foundational to widely used collaborative tools like Google Docs. By integrating these concepts into the Web3 stack, Topology seeks to foster a new wave of collaborative software that bridges various decentralized communities, ultimately enhancing the user experience and promoting interoperability across different platforms.

WISDOM
(Presented by @coopersmout)
@coopersmout presented a new primitive called WISDOM, designed to create an interoperable mechanism for valuing contributions within communities. The process involves three main steps: first, contributions are evaluated through pairwise comparisons, allowing community members to assess the value of different ideas, goods, or services. The second step, meta valuation, involves evaluating the valuations themselves, enabling a deeper understanding of the contributions’ worth. Finally, by rewarding these evaluations with tokens, the system can automatically calculate scores for each contribution, facilitating a multi-dimensional representation of value. This approach aims to streamline the recognition and reward of contributions, enhancing community governance and fostering a virtuous cycle of participation and engagement. Coopersmout emphasized the project’s potential to automate rewards and reputation scores, making it easier for communities to manage and appreciate the diverse contributions of their members.

WADE PROTOCOL
(Presented by @Nithin Mengani )
Nithin Mengani discussed the Wade protocol, emphasizing its role in quantifying user trust within decentralized applications. He explained that the protocol measures user activity on various platforms to assess trust levels, using a system where users stake tokens to indicate their trust in specific actions or participants. This mechanism allows for the calculation of a user’s reputation based on their interactions and contributions within the network. By analyzing transaction patterns and user behavior, the Wade protocol aims to create a reliable framework for establishing trust in decentralized environments, ultimately facilitating better governance and collaboration among users.
