I don’t think people are taking accountability seriously enough here. @gmfarcaster had media sponsors for FarCon, talked about FarCon Rome content, and possible pop-up streams. @farcaster was also posting “Farcaster is for everyone.” But if you weren’t in Rome, the event basically disappeared. No proper livestreams, no consistent videos, no real recaps, no clear way for the wider community to follow what was happening. Now some of the same people are stewarding the @clanker Ecosystem Fund. So I think it’s fair to ask: if they couldn’t properly communicate one of the most important Farcaster events of the year, why should builders feel confident that protocol resources will be managed with transparency and care? This isn’t about drama. It’s about trust, communication, and accountability.

This was Farcon LA 2024. Look, it’s not hard to livestream a talk. It’s not about resources. It’s about willingness to do better.

Honestly, it’s inconceivable to me that there’s a convention specifically about Farcaster, with Farcaster’s new owners there, and after several days — with the event basically ending — there still hasn’t been a single video, blog post, announcement, recap, nothing. It feels like all the information stayed with the people who had enough money to attend in person and access what is basically privileged information. And we’re talking about a social network convention. The whole point should be to let people experience it both IRL and URL, like everyone keeps saying. I’m genuinely disappointed in the organizers and in the Neynar team. With all the money in this ecosystem, how do you not hire a proper communications team? I honestly don’t get it.
