IBM thinks long term in ways many other organizations don't.
They understand what is needed to maintain the pipeline for another generational cycle, and this is them acting on it.
If there's a silver lining it's that other large companies will see this move and apply a similar strategy in an attempt to weather long term headwinds.
That being said, this doesn't apply to companies that only exist to be bought out. They still religiously stick with the 4 point plan
