Today crushed a lot of people. I am in shock with those who celebrate Charlie's death. While I don't agree with every position he held, his legacy of choosing discourse over violence through open debate is undeniable. It's perhaps the most spiritually American thing you can do and it has engaged millions of young people to become invested in their country’s future. The loss of any life is tragic and am gutted for his family. My concern is that this event will drive many to be more cynical but the way we choose to respond to this watershed moment is fundamentally important. Don't take the easy route.
