Finished this today, some thoughts
Went into it with very high expectations as its considered a "classic" in the genre, found it for some of its similarities to Dune (which there definitely are)
I was less enthralled or emotionally attached to the story than Dune but it was definitely an interesting read and presented some really interesting hypotheticals about the structure of society (don't want to spoil anything, but its related to gender/sex).
I can understand why it doesn't land for many but I also understand why its considered a classic for its time. A bit slow at time and the ending felt a bit lackluster but I'm glad I read it.
Tl;dr - very unique sociological sci-fi story about the nature of humanity, using sci-fi as a lens to explore social phenomena through alternative human evolution. Deserves praise, but might not hit as hard if you go in with high expectations.
