ok, the Base app no longer has a Cast feed. Personally, I didn’t use the Cast feed there much anyway, mainly because it was incomplete, it only had a single algorithmic feed, with no Channels and no Following feed. If you want the full social media experience, you still need to use the Farcaster app.
That said, I do think it makes sense for the Base app to integrate Farcaster’s social graph. From what I can see, that part still exists. In the Trade feed, you’re seeing a specific person behind each action, and that person is a real Farcaster user. The Mini Apps are also still there, which are an important part of Farcaster, enabling a rich onchain ecosystem and a diverse range of experiences within a single app.
The root of the controversy isn’t really about having content inside a wallet. It’s more about the idea of tokenized content. Given that, it’s understandable that content has been deemphasized for now, with the Base app focusing on its core wallet functions, trading and transactions.
Even though both still position themselves as "social + wallet", Farcaster leans more toward social, while Base leans more toward wallet. This creates a clearer functional distinction between the two.
