Recently there has been a wave of FUD around $CLANKER,
@farcaster, and even
@base.base.eth, including within Chinese communities.
so I write a piece to explain why
@neynar taking over Farcaster may actually have positive implications.
Farcaster isn't ending, it's entering its second phase.
The first phase was about going from 0 to 1: the Merkle team built the core protocol, formed a high-quality early community, and enabled applications that emerged organically from the ecosystem.
The second phase is about making that ecosystem thrive at scale, with builders at the center.
Neynar has been a critical part of Farcaster's infra from very early on. They understand blockchain infra, AI (like Neynar Agent and App Studio), and social networks.
More importantly, they combine technical depth with real execution and commercialization experience, qualities that may be better suited for scaling Farcaster's ecosystem over the long term.
That said, meaningful change takes time. Before running fast, the system needs to walk steadily.
As the Neynar team fully takes on maintaining Farcaster and aligns more closely with the
@clanker team, it's reasonable to expect incremental but meaningful changes ahead.
