Feature Base Lick

The Great Feature Heist: When Your Rap Career Dies Before the Hook

In the gritty underbelly of the city, four aspiring gangster rappers—Cam, Q, Dre, and Key—were tired of being local nobodies. Their latest track was fire, but it needed that one killer feature from the hottest drill artist in town, a dude who charged an arm, a leg, and probably a kidney for sixteen bars. Broke and desperate, the crew decided the only way to change their lives was to rob their way to the bag. Cam had the perfect first target: a flashy rapper named Lil’ SafeDeposit who bragged nonstop about his money moves but was softer than cafeteria pudding. Every Thursday, Lil’ SafeDeposit rolled up to the same bank like clockwork to pull out stacks. The group waited in their beat-up Impala for hours, hyping each other up, until the shiny chrome rims finally appeared. After Lil' SafeDeposit drove away from the ATM, he spotted the tail and started sweating bullets. He clutched his diamond-encrusted Jesus piece, kissed it for protection, and whispered, “I rap about this shit, I don’t live it!” while frantically shaking a tiny can of pepper spray like it was holy water. Then he noticed something familiar about the car behind him and dialed a number. Cam’s phone rang. Heart pounding, he answered, and Lil’ SafeDeposit casually asked, “Aye Cam, dat you followin me?” Cam lied through his teeth, claiming he was out of town. Dre gets mad at Cam saying "I told you to get tinted windows bruh!" Then Cam tells Dre to shutup. Lil’ SafeDeposit saw the driver’s silhouette matching his mouth movements in the rearview. “Damn bro?! Your lips are matching better than closed captions,” the rapper laughed nervously before rerouting straight to the police station. When Cam’s car rolled past the well-lit lot, Lil’ SafeDeposit hopped out, threw up two middle fingers, and screamed, “Fuck you, Cam!” Defeated, the crew slunk home to cook up another scheme.

Q’s genius idea was robbing his side bitch’s coke dealer. The plan was set in motion, when the drug-dealer sees Q standing there instead of the girl; he smelled a set up & pulls out his pistol but the group cornered him from behind. Just as the dealer gave up & dropped his gun, the butt of a gun hit the back of his head then he fell. That's when the group started to stomp him and check his pockets but they didn't find any cash (only 2 dime bags of coke & his phone) so they made him strip down naked. They could find nothing on the dealer, not even a Prince Albert. Confused & frustrated, Q demanded the dealer's phone then got the dealer to tell him the passwords to get access to his bank account. To Q's disbelief he sees $0.00 in the drug dealers bank account(unknown to the group of robbers that the drug dealer transfered all his funds via Base to an app called CryptoVault before their meetup). Key says to the drug dealer "You irresponsible dawg & you needa stop buyin pussy in the strip club." Dre rebuttals "you gotta to be da worst drug dealer I've have eva seen. You trappin fo' no reason bruh." Cam says "I know fo' sho' that the bank you use has 2% cash back on any purchase, so you should've had something in tha bank." Q stated, "Bruh, you broke as hell. You should’ve thrown that money in the stock market or somethin’. I heard the market was pumpin’… unlike your weak-ass hustle." The drug dealer was shocked as he laid on the cold concrete naked, bleeding from his head but he calmly replies "strip club pussy stays emptyin' my wallet bruh & what are yall robbers or accountants?!" The group slightly chuckles & Q says "we will be demons if you don't get yo' broke ass out of here." The dealer grabs his phone & clothes then ran away butt-naked from the unsuccessful robbery. The robbers revisited their safehouse to get high on coke while coming up with another plan to get money for the feature on the song.

Key had it all figured out. This gas station was a cash cow, a neighborhood relic where people still paid for their gas and groceries with crumpled twenties. It was supposed to be the an easy lick. The crew masked up and ditched the getaway car in a camera-blind alley a block away. They burst in the gas station, and Dre led the charge, leveling his pistol at the clerk. "Regista' open! Hands up! Don't even breathe!" The clerk short-circuited while looking down at the barrel of the gun, his nervous system gave up, and he promptly soaked his basketball shorts. As the register chimed open and the clerk began a frantic, sobbing plea for his life, Key saw the finish line. He vaulted over the counter just to hit the clerk’s fresh puddle of fear. Key’s feet went north, his head went south, and his gun skittered across the floor. The clerk, fueled by pure survival instinct, dove for the weapon. Suddenly, they were locked in a wrestling match rolling around in a pool of lukewarm urine. From his post at the door, Cam was too busy playing lookout. Dre was perched on the counter like an action movie star, aiming his gun at the rolling pile of limbs but terrified of clipping Key. Seeing the clerk gain the upper hand, Q bypassed the counter entirely and delivered a haymaker that sent the clerk face-first into his own puddle. Lights out. "Move it!" Cam hissed from the door. While Q scooped the damp bills into a bag, Key sat on the floor, staring into the middle distance, contemplating suicide. They burned rubber back to the safehouse, where the vibe was split. Q and Dre were giddy, counting the take. Cam was doubled over, wheezing about how he hoped the clerk didn’t drown in his own "piss." Meanwhile, Key was in the bathroom, essentially trying to scrub his entire soul with a bottle of bleach and a bar of soap. After the count, they only had a third of the cash needed for the rap feature that was supposed to launch their careers. "No more gas stations," Key shouted from the shower. Cam states "He's right, we aren't startin' a trend for the police to follow." Dre pitched the new plan: a bank. One hit, the full remaining two-thirds of the cash, and enough left over. It was a flawless plan. At least, that’s what they told themselves.

They went out to execute their most well thoughtout plan ever with Cam staying in the car as the getaway driver & the rest of the gang ran inside with guns drawn, keeping tellers away from the silent alarm, & sticking to the cash in the drawers(no vaults). Although the gang executed the robbery perfectly in under 5 minutes, there was a fatal flaw in their plan that the gang didn't know about. The bank updated their security system (a week before the gang robbed the bank) that uses AI in the security cameras to where if anyone that brandish a weapon inside the bank, the system will automatically trigger the silent alarm. After the gang easily gets the cash from the drawers they notice the smiles on the tellers, security guards, & bank manager's faces. The gang sense something was off so they jetted out of the bank towards their getaway car. The gang was about 10 feet away from the car & Cam starts smiling from ear to ear as he thinks about the rap feature that might change their career as drill rappers. Just as Cam sees the gang get about 5 feet away from the car, Cam hears a hail of bullets that shatter the rear windshield, hit Q in his ass, & Key reacts by returning fire but gets shot in the head. Which the chaos makes Cam hit the gas leaving his crew behind & just when Cam was making it out the back alley he gets hit by a police cruiser on the driver side. Cam died instantly on impact. Simultaneously, Q & Dre was able to find cover behind a dumpster but Q quickly bled out & died on scene. The sole survivor, Dre witnessed everything that happened in that moment & decided to throw the white flag. Dre surrendered to the police & was arrested. The judicial process concluded with Dre receiving a sentence of 25 years to life in prison for the city’s worst crime spree—all for a rap feature they never got.
