21 Days of Letters, a writing challenge during which I will look at how the stories we tell ourselves, as societies and individuals, shape us. More specifically, looking at the spaces created using social media/ the internet in general. How we’re becoming seemingly more woke and more numb. How we’re seemingly reacting and retracting away from one another. I’m looking at all the places I empty my brain on the internet: WhatsApp, Instagram, Signal, Penzu (personally), Slack, Gmail (work).
Zombies have always always terrified me. But what if Zombies weren’t flesh and brain eating but instead they were stories that need to be understood and laid to rest? I feel like there are plenty of those around.
It also touches on my own identity as an Irish woman living in post-Brexit London and the many things that's currently stirring in me as I look to the future, mine personally and ours collectively. And yes, the theme is a direct reference to our Queen of Limerick Dolores O’Riordan’s anthem by the same name.
