I don’t know about you, but frankly I’m growing a bit weary of all the PFP projects that are increasing supply more than the market demands. Currently it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the pace of projects minting every day. I mean how many variations of punks do we really need?

I try to keep my eye on the pulse of the market but as you know, that can be a full-time job just to stay abreast of what’s dropping and that’s not including surprise drops like Loot or The N Project.

Today we’re going to be looking at a project that has been rocking the NFT landscape. This project has captured collectors interest by combining two of the most integral pieces of the Ethereum ecosystem. By supercharging it’s respective NFT collection with a DeFi component, the project generates yield in the form of ERC20 token $BANANA.

CyberKongz was deployed on April 16, 2021, however the Genesis Kongz were released on March 3rd, and migrated to their current contract as it is today.

CyberKongz has created a quite the extensive ecosystem and if you ever wanted to ape into the project but didn’t have the time to gather all the facts to make an informed decision then this is the article for you. Genesis KONGZ (1,000 Total Supply)

The first 989 genesis Kongz were minted for 0.01ETH, with 10 legendary Kongz being reserved for auction. On March 5th, 2021 all genesis Kongz were sold out.

However, the Kongz community was just getting warmed up. On March 7th, two days later the community donated 60% of the sale proceeds to CoolEarth and Orangutan Outreach.

With nothing but positive vibes flowing through the concrete jungle, ten legendary Kongz were auctioned off for 200ETH in total proceeds, with another 5ETH donation going to the Orangutan Outreach and adopting six orangutans.

Now if you’re a chain sleuth, you’ll recognize that the current Kongz contract was deployed on April 17, 2021 about 44 days later from the genesis launch. The reason the community migrated to a new contract was to implement some pretty innovative uses cases at the time. Things like breeding, custom names and bios, as well as the utility token $BANANA which gives you the ability to purchase wearables and equipment for your respective Kong from the Banana Shop.

It’s important to note that the 1,000 genesis Kongz generate 10 $BANANA/day for the next 10 years. So if you ever wondered why genesis Kongz had a floor of 95ETH (at time of publication) it’s because you’re looking at $460+/- a day in token value accrual (a.t.o.p).

Baby KONGZ (4,000 Total Supply)

Breeding CyberKongz was introduced with the deployment of the official CyberKongz contract on April 17, 2021 and allowed genesis owners the ability to incubate cute cuddly little baby kongz.

So far 2,549 baby kongz have been birthed by the community, which allows access to the community and potential upside enjoyed by their parents Genesis Kongz, as well as sharing some of the same functionality. Your baby Kong also has the ability to change their name and bio using the utility token $BANANA.

From my perspective this was a brilliant strategy, they gave the power to their early adopters to create the ecosystem that would allow more people to join the community without having to own a genesis Kong. So you would have to stake a genesis Kong for 60 days in order to accumulate enough $BANANA to breed another baby kong, thereby controlling supply and demand because just like in nature it takes time for a new baby to form, and that principle has been translated beautifully in the parent/child symbiosis of the Kongz.

CyberKONGZ VX (15,000 Total Supply)

While genesis and baby kongz are particularly well suited for profile pictures, the leadership in the concrete jungle refuse to rest on their laurels, and they created 15,000 3D Kongz to be used in the metaverse. 1,000 were reserved for the genesis kongz, and 4,000 were reserved for baby kongz owners. The other 10,000 were offered to the public for 0.07ETH mint price.

KONGZ Community

After you’ve been in up to a hundred Discords it becomes rather easy to quickly gauge the vibe of the community. Is it organized, can I find the information that is most pertinent to my needs? These are questions I ask myself when I hit a new community. Now most of the time I’ll just lurk, research, and come to my own conclusions, but I needed to get some facts right for this article. So I jumped into the #general to get some clarification. I’ve had my fair share of “Read #announcements” “Read the #FAQ”, now it couldn’t been the fact that my query was indeed legitimate and not a trolling comment.

A great Kong member by the name of Henry the Grape helped me with getting an immense amount of context around the project, but as I was getting acquainted with the channel I was treated to an conversation I’ve yet to experience anywhere else in the NFT space.

Sometimes things just fall into place and you really don’t why, I could have gotten any other member to provide me with the info that Henry gave me, but what I couldn’t have expected was the following story…

Henry’s account was compromised and he had lost 5–6 baby kongz, Coco_Bear of the core team bought all the babies back from the hacker and gave them back to Henry no questions asked. No need to fix something that didn’t directly relate to them but felt compelled to make their community member whole, speaks volumes. Needless to say Henry aped into Kongz.

CyberKongz has a bright future ahead of it, not only because they are innovating on all fronts but most importantly they have one of the dopest communities with some of the most passionate members in the space.
