With a huge community effort Bastard GAN Punks V2 won FloorDAO’s Emerging Collection vote! I want to give a shout out to Justin Avery, Sheep, Infamous, Wassoshi, JU7URNA, Qexd, bgans.eth, Juicy, Rooster, Printer Punk, Rosco Kalis, sexas, notsofast, the multisig signers, all the blockchain sleuths, the bribers, and the voters big and small. Thank you everyone who made this victory a reality. We won with a record breaking 60% of the votes. And but since this win, the community has grown, there’s been an increased interest in collaborations, and BGAN sales volume, and Discord scam bots has increased drastically. As market conditions turn, we’ll very likely see increased liquidity from FloorDAO. But, this win also means being represented next to CryptoPunks, Wizards, and Squiggles by another DAO, which adds legitimacy to our community as well as the BGAN collection. So congratulations delusional Bastards.

Berk has been busy finding new uses for $BASTARD while simultaneously breaking NFTs. Their contract lets people mint a copy of any NFT in Berk’s wallet. Soon after the release Berk noted that only the art works that they created are being copied. It’s a weird experiment for sure, but it’s proven (temporarily) bullish for $BASTARD price action. Keep it up, Berk.

In the Discord there have been some friendly debates on traits and whether or not specific Bastards are mislabeled. And some interesting points came up. Wassoshi shared the BGAN V2 TRAIT CONSTITUTION. This is a living document instructing the community on how to propose a trait change, along with a detailed description of every existing trait, and a list of each Bastard who’s undergone a trait change. Snooplin also makes the point that we should aim to “improve the metadata with or without the owners involvement. And we also want to improve [trait] definition so they are clearer.” So if you’ve been looking for a way to get involved with the Bastard DAO, look no further.
Speaking of Constitutions, there is also a BGAN V2 DAO CONSTITUTION which defines a valid Bastard DAO proposal. But it doesn’t cover the social etiquette that is expected when submitting a new proposal--especially one that calls for Treasury spending. So, if you have an idea that could benefit the DAO please do write a thorough proposal outlining the pros and cons, but before publishing it to Snapshot share it with the community and accept their feedback.
Our friend Justin Avery over at NFTX also wrote a guide introducing the $BGAN Vault and how to use it. Inside there are strategies for increasing your $BGAN stack. Who knows, Anon, maybe one day you’ll be a BGAN whale.

888mooncat has continued to sound the horn for community members to to create BGAN content. In the last couple of months community involvement has increased, but there are still a few roles that need filling. And probably some roles we didn’t know we needed. Web3 is very creator centric, Mirror has introduced Writing NFTs as a way to incentivize content creation.
In the Ecosystem of Expertise channel in the BGAN’s Discord Snarflakes highlights some of the more basic ways to contribute and grow the Bastard community. Some of which are paid roles.

HIDE YOUR HOODIES! BGANs with the HOODIE trait are experiencing a price discovery period as they start finding their fair market value. Surly, if any of these large bids are accepted it could signal an elevation in the fair price of the entire BGAN collection. This is something we’ve already started to witness with Infamous’ 6 ETH HOODIE buy. This may also signal more grail listings and sales as well.

LET BIDDING SZN COMMENCE! Buying NFTs with common traits is what you do when you’re just testing the vibe of a community, or if you have a short time horizon. Which is still important and necessary for growth. But when rarer traits start selling, it signals staying power as people who believe in the collection’s future start hunting for their holy grail. In the days leading up to the FoorDAO vote there were a handful of HYPE AF sales including a floaty head acquired by BTCLONE. We’ve also seen a massive increase in sales volume thanks to big ticket buyers like Infamous who recently added a HOODIE to their collection.

We’ve started see a new narrative emerge for BGAN Punks. There has been a move away from being labeled as a Crypto Punks derivative project for some time now, but some community members are pushing it further and identifying BGANS as art transcending the PFP genre of NFTs. This change of narrative will only benefit the community and should continue to be reenforced. Some other emerging points on this initiative are labeling BGANs the most successful AI generated art collection, and the standard BGAN Punks set for glitch art.

There is another partnership with UASIS CORP. 100 Bastards were given a Special Edition Osiris One ship which in the future is playable in Voxel, Sandbox, and Decentraland. The Museum of Crypto Art is a public good and the “first cultural institution of crypto art.” Their mission is to challenge the traditional museum’s curation process, which is generally decided by board members, wealthy donors, and other elites. Their Permanent Collection is all works that predate December 2020--BGANs barely missed the cut here. The Community Collection is more than 6,000 NFTs shared by the NFT community as a whole. It’s a place where anyone can share and discover art, and it’s regularly shared in IRL art exhibits (read more about their Collections here). And now BGANs are represented in the Community Collection. The goal is to further encourage the BGAN Community to share their BGANs with the world, and for BGANs to have further representation in large collections, museums, and eventually exclusive curated collections.

Segwitnitwit is a BGAN meme lord whose work is definitely worth following. He won BotM for his contributions in constantly making the world beautiful. His BGAN Exploder stemmed from his interest in cellular automata, and has blessed our timelines for some time. Segwit says he’s fine tuning and experimenting with other cool functions and utility he can add. And he’s hoping to present it as a stand alone NFT collection in the future that may be purchased with $BASTARD. When he’s not exploding Bastards, he enjoys watching American football, playing with his four cats, and hiking with his girlfriend.

Segwitnitwit has been in the crypto space since 2017 when his college roommate started mining Ether. His origin story rings familiar for many of us here:
“Longstory short, my roommate introduced me, the money drew me in and confounded me, the tech kept me around. And the "why does anything have value" nihilistic rabbit hole kept me awake.”
But now Segwit is sticking around for the tech and the community. The Merger to PoS is something he’s been looking forward to since 2017, and it’s just around the corner.
“As cliche as it is, the tech. I am terribly excited right now to see all the developments that are occurring and all the crazy shit that is about to [happen]. The merge to POS is something i’ve been excited about since fucking 2017. They’ve been talking about it FOREVER. Like what if it succeeds without a hitch?! What if it crashes and burns?? Definitely interested in that.
Also current market conditions. In 2017/2018 the run up drew me in deep, I was all about crypto. Then everything when to shit and I was at like 95% losses. I was overwhelmed and pretty beaten down. I left the scene entirely. MISSING FUCKING CRYPTOPUNKS UGHHHHH!! I could have gotten those for free, but I left the scene. RIP. So basically I’m not doing that again. I feel pretty numb to the current losses. Also I sold a good chunk of my ETH around $4,200. And managed to put a down payment on a house with it! So I’m super happy with where I’m at. Just going to wait until I get more cash & prices keep dipping. Going to load up on some ETH.
And most importantly NFTs. To me NFTs have provided common interests among people thats more than just, "we all hope the same coin goes up in value." Early on trading just crypto got me down. It was kind of lonely, I didn’t have anyone in my life to talk about it to. I mean I talked to every living soul I could about it, but no one ever knew wtf I was talking about. No lie, the BGAN community is a huge part of why I’m still here. It's fun to see what crazy deals are coming on the market, and how people are choosing to spend their ETH. Learning about everyone's preferences. Love seeing people snagging bangers for great prices. And of course I’m a part of a few other communities that keep me engaged, but mainly BGANs.”
