streets glow like they’re meant for two
midnight waits ahead
you keep showing up in every passing couple
I keep pretending you’re beside me
downtown glass catches a shape I almost call yours
matching my pace
no one notices me stop walking
hands almost brushing
even the countdown feels like it’s for someone else

you would’ve laughed at the cold
