Traditional Japanese ankle-high socks with a separated toe. They are worn by both men and women with zori, geta and other traditional shoes with straps.

Tabi are also important when wearing traditional clothing - kimonos and other types of wafuku, including those worn by samurai in the Middle Ages. The most common tabi color is white. White tabi is worn in formal settings, such as before a tea ceremony.
