How We’re Building the InnVest Community

And Why You Should Join

This is part of a series - I am documenting the intersection of crypto and hospitality. I will identify the steps I take to set up a crypto-powered motel in the Upstate NY area. If it works out, the brand will go global with getaways throughout the world. This is the beginning of InnVest Coin (IVC).

A few weeks ago, this project was just an idea in my head:
What if the internet owned a motel?

Now it’s a mission.
And missions need a community.

Why We’re Building in Public

Most startups pitch in private, raise from insiders, and then launch to “the public” like it’s a product drop.

I looked into it. We’re not doing that. The project will take a backseat to VC interests.

Instead, we’re building in public—from the broken single pane windows all the way to the rotten deck boards—because this isn’t just about launching a business. It’s about proving that a community can co-create something physical, lasting, and profitable without middlemen.

The Role of the Discord

This won’t be a Discord for hype.
No “wen moon,” no price talk. I mean, don’t get me wrong, a little hype sets the mood, but that’s all naivety drizzled with bullshit.

This is a working Discord—part creative studio, part builder hub, part town hall. We really don’t need hype when we have something durable.

What you’ll find inside:

  • Design mockups and feedback channels

  • Property listings we’re evaluating (help us scout)

  • Renovation progress, expense sheets, and budgets

  • Open voting and community Q&As

  • Airdrop-style allowlists (no token yet, but eventually)

We’re calling this the InnVest Founders Lounge—because even if you haven’t invested yet, your input helps shape the blueprint. And the business will prosper when you care about the blueprint.

Where Are We Getting Our People?

We’re pulling from a few very specific corners of the internet:

  • The Garage Economist readership (that’s you)

  • Crypto-native builders and regen types from Mirror and Twitter

  • Nomadic millennials and Gen Z who care more about meaning than marble countertops

  • And a few former Airbnb hosts, STR operators, and hospitality dreamers who know how hard this actually is

This is not mass market. This is not hype. This is intentional.

Want In?

We’re soft-launching the Discord now. It’s minimal. Raw. Unpolished.
Just like the properties we’re evaluating.

If you want to shape the first community-owned motel brand from the ground up, reply to this post or DM me for an invite link.
