The title of this short article is gotten from the outro of Logic’s second studio album “The Incredible True Story” but contrary to the title this post isn’t directly related to making music. It’s more of an approach to doing anything creative which I’ll rant about. (expect typos).
Being creative is hard. Very hard. Because everyday you wake up, come on Twitter, Instagram e.t.c and see other people post what they’re working on and all of a sudden you feel this pressure. You feel like you aren’t doing enough. You feel like your work sucks. I know. I’ve been there. Imposter syndrome is a bitch. But there’s an alternative. You need to embrace your creative journey. Keep your head down and just work towards your personal goal. Ignore the noise. You feel like you deserve more? Put in more work. They can only ignore you and your greatness for so long. As much as I’m writing this for those people that battle imposter syndrome every fucking day I’m also writing this for myself. Forget getting recognition, stop putting unnecessary pressure on yourself, stop comparing yourself with the next person (that just stunts your growth). Stop caring about what people say and make music like there’s no Grammy.
