GM Punks, well, that was the summer that was, and wasn’t. Those of us who have been around long enough to remember the various summers that have been and gone, from DeFi to JPEG, it seems we will remember 2023, as with 2022, for all the wrong reasons. But hey! We’re Punks, right? We don’t sit idly by while the market crab walks sideways. We’re here to build. So, what sort of a summer can we look back on? What summer can we say we took part in this time around, and what are we going to be refl...

Punks Post Mirror Edition #03 - For Those Who Are About to Degen. We Salute You.
GM Punks, never a quiet moment around here, right? Sometimes you get that feeling that you’d like to be back in ‘precedented times’ or you know, maybe not…There we were, mid-April, thinking things were somewhat levelling out, perhaps we were even getting a little respite, were things really starting to look up again? ETH seemed to be on its way back to $2k and NFT market activity was slowing but less, sales and community seemed to be at pretty decent levels! Smiles even, then Shit Coin season...

Punks Post Mirror Edition #01 - An Expanding World
GM Punks, well, what can we say? It’s been a quick minute. In the blink of an eye, we’ve gone from what was the barrage of late 2022 and into the wonder of 2023, with all the weird and wild opportunities that have exploded from this relentless year so far. Two months in and it half feels like the collapses, liquidations and rolling panic of 2022 were some sort of fever dream that passed as quick as they came. Well, we’re still here, well on our way to taking a solid chunk out of 2023, and in ...

GM Punks, well, the numbers are in, we’ve collated the opinions and tallied the tweets. As we sit on the brink of another eagerly anticipated NFT Paris, as Punks convene on the City of Love form all corners of the world and as degens kick-off parties in the dazzling lights across Paname, yes, we can make it official. Distinguished Punks of the metaverse and degens of the highest calibre: We are SO back!
Of course, of course, not financial advice! BUT even the most ardent of bears would have to admit now those dark cold morns of winter are melting away into the golden shine of spring, sentiment is good, the outlook is picking up, and of course, Punks are looking as strong as ever.
What's the adage? Build in the bear? Well, the latter part of 2023 and the start of 2024 have been anything but silent and, in fact, doing that building ready for whatever is to come next. So, while the broader crypto market navigated through its tumultuous waves, Punks continued to carve out moments of significant impact and cultural integration. Lead by our now not so new herald, the unstoppable and unflinching force that is Natalie Stone, we've seen the continuation of incredible things from not only the community at large, but Yuga and the team specifically with the moves they've been making.
The announcement and anticipation surrounding the Punks' docuseries (which we get into more down below!) epitomised the community's move towards documenting our journey, sharing our stories, and exploring the depths of our collective experience. This initiative, peeling back the layers of our beloved Punk history, speaks volumes of the commitment to not only celebrating our past but also inspiring the future of digital art and community.
And then there are the brunches, the meets, the casual hangs, pints had down a local pub in London or the epic parties that continue to get thrown across the globe like our very own Stone's LA weekend getaway. As we step into 2024, the legacy of the Punks community remains a beacon of what's possible when art meets technology, community meets creativity, and history meets the horizon of the future. The closing months of 2023 were not just a period of reflection but a launching pad for new narratives, projects, and possibilities that we, as a community, are just beginning to explore.
Paving the way with this, on a mission of championing innovation and expression in digital art, the Punk in Residence program is right up there with driving us into the future. A commitment that seeks to onboard and amplify fresh voices in the next generation of artists and collectors in web3 and serving as an incubator for experimentation, where Punks ask the resident; "What does Punk mean to you?"
So, as the dawn of 2024 breaks and we push on into the spring, let us carry with us the lessons learned, the successes celebrated, and the challenges overcome. Punks' community, with its vibrancy, resilience, and undying spirit of innovation, continues to set the pace for what it means to be at the forefront of the digital renaissance.
Here's to the stories we'll write, the art we'll create, and the community we'll continue to build in 2024, whether on the ground through events, in the metaverse via every channel imaginable or an amalgamation of both. Here's to the boundless possibilities that 2024 holds and to the enduring bond that unites us all as Punks, ever ready to forge ahead into the uncharted territories of digital art and blockchain innovation. And of course, while we can't cover everything that has happened in the last few months, we've tried to cram in as much as we could below! So pour that coffee, take a moment, and dive into what we've all been up to and what is incoming! And before you head off into the links below, if you're here from Twitter and want to see the full expanded Links version of the Punks Post, be sure to jump into the Discord.

The collaboration with Avant Arte comes to life! Experimenting with concepts of scarcity, demand, and collectability, Punks ignited a movement centred on ideals of self-custody and governance — where holders, collectors, and fans could view and track the creation and movement of art in a novel way.
For the collaboration with avant_arte the team knew it was imperative to apply these same principles and incorporate blockchain technology in a manner that improved the physical collecting experience — in the same way it does in the digital setting.
The results were more than impressive, a unique minting and physical experience Punks shared high and wide.
NEW MODS
The Punks mod family grew! The team were excited to announce the addition of four new carefully chosen moderators in the Punks Discord. Welcoming snack_man, VRPunk1, niftynaut, and nf_suzanne – an awesome bunch, and fine protectors of the channel.
NEW INSTAGRAM CHANNEL
Punks are also now ‘On The Grid’ with a brand new and ever expanding Instagram channel, so get over there, give it a follow and get smashing that like button. More to come on this one and we can’t wait to see the results.

NEW WRAPPING CONTRACT
Yuga built a new contract to bring Punks from the past into the present. Introducing CryptoPunks721 - a safe and efficient way to trade and custody the NFT that you prize so much. Here's how it all works in an amazing thread from the inimitable @cygaar
With a slight hiccup to begin with, the team quickly came back with the updates and response required, and the updates successfully launched. The goal being of course to create a safer and healthier eco-system for the Punk community.
PUNK IN RESIDENCE
The team were thrilled to announce the launch of Punk in Residence program! With inaugural artist NinaChanelAbney. With a mission of championing innovation and expression in digital art, the program seeks to onboard and amplify fresh voices in the next generation of artists and collectors in web3.

Unto the brink once more! The PunksDAO in association with Yuga, the Punks team and wider NFT and web3 community continue to spearhead amazing events and brunches all over the world. Now, with the two big ones coming up out of the way, let's look back at what happened as 2023 came to a close and in the opening months of this year.
Right back to just after the previous Punks Post, we had the Beeple Punks Gathering in Charleston, and what a few days were had.
From the talks during the day, to the party in the evening and the incredible brunch the next day, all set in the stunning Beeple studios and the picturesque town of Charleston, it was one to remember.
See you next year?
Hot on the heels of that there ended up being two Punks Brunches Hong Kong! One early November and yet another in late January this year!
With amazing sponsors and organisers, both were a fantastic success.
Then in quick fire succession, we had a Punks Brunch Amsterdam!
Then the amazing Punks Brunch Miami for Miami Art Basel!
And then, after a brief bit of respite over the festive season, we saw the New Year and new set of Punks events kick off with a bang, as the inimitable Stone hosted the Punks LA Getaway!
And where it was confirmed as canon that Stone is indeed, a complete legend and the women that are now driving the Punks into the future are amongst the best in the business.
Well, we're SO back, right? Certainly, with the BTC EFT, a solid up-tick in the Punk floor, some amazing sales and some very positive sentiment all round, it feels like we're on the cusp of something. It's tantalisingly close, but as we all know around here, this is a marathon, not a sprint, we always MUST zoom out, and of course, there is always something around the corner… Regardless, it is nice to bask in a little of the bullish warmth now, and whichever way you look at it, Punks have done demonstratably well coming out of the bear, and into what seems to be the first flourishes of a bull market in crypto at least, and to some extent, within NFTs as well.
Premium Punks, from Aliens to Apes, Hoodies and Zombies, they all continue to get premium bids and sales, from in the millions to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and even now, at time of typing, the Punk floor sits at a very healthy 56.5 ETH or around the $165,000 dollar mark. Now, how high sentiment will go, and does it really matter? It's always nice to have that floor secured and looking strong. It helps not only reflect the value of the art, but in some ways, the community too. So, we'll see what happens, where we go, but the believers know, we're not going anywhere, and whatever comes our way, good or bad, we weather it together.
What better way to put the spotlight on Punks and our incredible community this time around than to look at the amazing 'As Told By Punks' series that the team have produced in collaboration with the awesome @NFT_Now? There are 12 incredible interviews all together, but we've just hand picked 5 for you to get started with!
MATT & JOHN: Start at the beginning, right? Founders Hall and Watkinson trace the Punks history from a quiet 2017 launch to a defining NFT icon, inspiring the ERC-721 standard and the PFP movement. This episode explores their early internet experiments, the project's punk ethos, and its unforeseen rise to a $2.6 billion sales volume, despite initial disinterest. Their journey underscores the impact of community and the transition under Yuga Labs, ensuring Punks' enduring legacy and brand evolution.
CLAIRE SILVER: AI artist Claire Silver shares her journey crediting the Punks for opening doors and creating a digital family. She recounts acquiring her first Punks from a friend, emphasising the emotional and financial value they've brought, including helping fund her mother's cancer treatment. In this very personal 1-1 Claire discusses the Punks' role in digital identity and art's future, highlighting the unique blend of innovation and community. Her choice to remain anonymous underscores the importance of safety and the desire to be judged solely on ideas, leveraging her Punk as a symbol of identity.
BEEPLE: The man, the myth, the legend, Beeple, with Ryan Zurrer explores Punks' influence on digital art and online identity. He talks about how they helped inspire his approach to art, noting its groundbreaking impact on the NFT space. Discussing the project's pure intent and its foundational role in the NFT revolution, underlining the significance of community passion and historical relevance. They reflect on the early, innovative days of NFTs, marvelling at CryptoPunks' enduring influence and the ongoing evolution of digital art.
TSHUUULY: known for her moderating role in the CryptoPunks Discord, shares her journey from an enthusiast to a key community mediator. She highlights the transformative power of Punks in shaping online identities and fostering a supportive digital art community. Through nurturing dialogue and resolving conflicts, she has contributed significantly to the community's dynamic growth, the Discord would be a very different place with out our Tshuuuly that’s for sure!
GREG & CHRIS: And to round up, a dive with Greg Solano from Yuga Labs and Chris Lyons from a16z discuss the Punks' pivotal role in defining digital identities and fostering community within the digital realm. They delve into Yuga Labs' acquisition of CryptoPunks, aiming to empower owners with intellectual property rights, reinforcing the community's strength. This conversation underlines the transformative impact of Punks on Web3 and the collective progress it heralds for digital and physical communities alike.
What a few months, what a start to the year, what a moment to be living in. We are here, right now, at the cusp, and we continue to thrive and believe in what we are doing, with each other, and with the wider community. From diving into the technicolour dreamscape that "Punks As Told By CryptoPunks" paints, we're whisked away on a kaleidoscopic journey through the annals of digital innovation, where the Punks aren't just subjects of a docuseries, but the vibrant heartbeats of a burgeoning digital renaissance. With each episode, from the profound dialogues between visionaries like Greg Solano and Chris Lyons to the soul-stirring anecdotes of Tschuuuly, and the avant-garde musings of Beeple and Claire Silver, we're gifted a prismatic lens through which to view the genesis and explosive growth of these pioneers.
This saga, elegantly unfurled, marks a seminal shift in our digital epoch - where the brushstrokes of art collide with the binary code of technology, and the tapestry of community is woven with threads of creativity and shared destiny.
The Punk ethos, championed by a legion of trailblazers and nurtured by a community of unwavering fidelity, continues to push the envelope, challenging the very fabric of digital interaction and artistic endeavour.
As 2024 unfurls its wings, the legacy of the Punks stands as a testament to the boundless potential at the nexus of creativity, technology, and communal harmony. Embarking on this odyssey, we're not just spectators but participants in a grand experiment of brunches across continents, meetups that span the globe, and the transformative Punk in Residence initiative. Here, the spirit of collaboration, the thirst for innovation, and a visionary outlook propel us into uncharted territories of web3 and beyond. As we navigate this digital renaissance, the essence of Punk - audacious, genuine, and trailblazing - illuminates our path towards realms of untold possibilities and connections, in a world perpetually in flux. So a couple of final highlights:
Champion gmoney takes out a $1 million loan against his Ape.
Sherone produces an awesome inside look at Punks in a completely new app.
Previous brand liaison Noah helps drive through colossal Autoglyph sale with collector representative and art advisor Amanda Schmitt.
Legend Sean Bonner announces 2 Bit Punks project.
The Inimitable Claire Silver shares a full thread on her latest work.
