Ku esei den kabes, lagami kontinua kumi introdukshon.
Bondia!
M’a nase i krese na Kòrsou.
M’a kuminsa skucha músika punk i definí mi mes komo atheista, esei a resultá den pèrdidá di amigu dor di e diferensia di religion. Komo konsekuensia, nan a kuminsa yamami satániko, aparte di esei tambe m’a kumisá disfruta lesa biografianan di hendenan ku ideanan diferente manera Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi,Anton Lavey, Marina Abramovic, Angela Davis i Harvey Milk. Na skol, durante mi tempo na Marnix Cas Cora, mi no por a drenta les di Godsdienst anto m’a bin realisá ku Hospitality no ta mi pashón, pues m’a disidi di kumisá buska otro alternativa.
Siendo un persona neurodivergente, mi tabata konsumí hopi informashon ku mi tabata interesá den dje (awòki mi sa ku ta un manera di stim i ku tabata un “hyper fixatie”) i m’a kumisá skibi, kual tabata un manera pa mi uit mi mes. M’a kumisá gust’é i kier a desaroyá más den dj’e, pues m’a apliká pa bai Instituto Buena Bista (IBB). Man’e tur tiner mi a kumisá bira seksualmente aktivo.
Artistikamente, el a siñami eksplorá kon leu mi por bai ku mi kurpa i kiko tur e ta kapas di sostené. BDSM tambe a afektá mi aktivismo, e tema di sèks ta hopi tabu ahinda i yená ku historianan polítiko, mirada di mundu, religion i kiko nos ta pensa ta korekto of nò. Ultimamente, BDSM a siñami kon pa no asumí, komuniká más mihó, respetá hende su límite nan i di mi mes.
Mi mama tabata un stewardes antes, semper e tabata bisa ami i mi ruman pa bai eksplorá otro kultura i partinan di mundu. Esei a resultá ku mi ruman a bai studia na Los Angeles i ami na Hulanda. Pero esei ta bin despues, pa awòki esaki ta mi introdukshon.
Ta bon i kuida bo mes,
[English version]
A small introduction of our third author: Renzo . We from Sin Kabes believe that we all experience the world through different lenses which are largely formed by our biases and intersections. Which in turn influences how much power we hold and how much space we take in. That's why we need to use an intersectional approach for our introduction.
That being said, I'll continue now with my introduction.
Bondia! We (Sin Kabes) wanted to introduce ourselves. I am Renzo de Pablo (he/him), 29 years old as of writing this, born and raised in Curaçao.
I was born and raised as an upper middle-class kid in Curaçao with a twin brother on my side by both my parents. Fortunately, they are still together. My mom has her roots in Suriname and is of Asian descent. Meanwhile, my father has roots that are linked to the enslaved people of Curaçao (as far as we know). During the first two years of my infancy, we lived in Janwe, but for the remainder of my youth, we lived in the Damacor/ Mahaai area. We grew up trilingual at home, speaking Dutch with mom, Papiamentu with my father, and Spanish with the live-in.
My brother and I were not raised religiously, which caused a lot of differentiation between the other kids and us, which is one of the first biggest factors in who I am to this day. At home, everything could be discussed, which sparked a lot of curiosity that was motivated by my parents. Having gone to Marnix basis school and Marnix VSBO, which is a Protestant school, these two realities started to clash both in my personal life and academically. Got into punk, defined myself as an atheist, lost friends due to differences of religion, started being called a satanist, and enjoyed reading books of Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X, Anton Lavey, Marina Abramovic, Angela Davis, and Harvey Milk, to name a few. I wasn't welcome in religious studies during my time at Marnix Cas Cora, and I discovered that studying hospitality wasn't my jazz and had to look for an alternative.
Being neurodivergent and consuming a ton of information I was interested in (looking back, this was stimming and hyperfixation at the same time), I started sketching and writing, which was a great outlet. Wanting to pursue more of this, I enrolled in IBB (Instituto Buena Bista). Like most other teenagers, I became sexually active. This didn't come without its problems; while most teenagers were exploring the softer sides of things, all I could think about was tying someone up.
Shortly after expressing my desires, a close friend told me I might be a sadist and that the world of BDSM might be something worth looking into. Little did I know at the time that the discovery of BDSM would have a profound impact on my life. Through BDSM, I discovered that my sexual orientation is complicated. That but that my work artistically can explore the limits of what the body is capable of. This affects my activist work as the conversation around sex is taboo but also loaded with politics, history, and worldviews. Last but not least, it taught me to not assume and respect the boundaries of people and my own.
My mom used to be a stewardess and always urged us to go and explore many cultures and parts of the world. As a result, my brother studied in Los Angeles and me in the Netherlands. During my studies, whenever we had days off, I took it upon myself to get to know other countries within Europe. Creatively, this has led me to make work in Los Angeles, Italy, Germany, Saint Vincent, and Switzerland, to name just a few. Traveling and working in other parts of the planet gave me exposure to alternative ways of life, different politics, diets, and ways of being. Always on the lookout for people similar to me, I moved to Germany. Germany was a very tough and hard experience, but through those hardships, I have realized what I want for my future. What I can do with my potential for the future of Curacao. This has led me to do my masters in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I now reside. More info will follow as this was just my introduction to get to know me and my intersections through writing
Be well,Renzo de Pablo
