Personally, I have endured bad posture throughout my life, from my early teens and even up until now, it still is not perfect. There are many consequences of bad posture, this includes back pain, sleeping problems and low self-esteem. Due to my bad posture, my confidence took a hit and since I was overweight, I would naturally slouch to hide the fat which I was insecure about. Recently, my posture is much better and I have gotten a boost in my confidence as a result.
Going gym, lifting weights and working on my form, gave me this remarkable feeling where I felt all the “bad blood” leaving my body with each rep and set. With each pump, I stood straight with amicable confidence and felt elated. This was one of the first times where my good posture wasn’t “forced”, it felt entirely natural and composed.
There are some exercises, in particular, I would recommend which helped me with my posture.
This is the bent-over-row and it is an exceptionally good exercise to work on your back as a whole. Most importantly, the form is the most important here, having a straight back will help you work on your back effectively and safely. After a few sets of these, when you stand up, you will be buzzing. Your back would feel stronger with the pump and you would return to your natural posture which you want to acquire permanently.
Confidence comes in many different forms and ways, it can be easy access to some but something seemingly impossible for others. Whilst, it is completely dependent upon your personality traits and ultimately how you would like to live your life, a boost in confidence will always work in your favour. Posture is a significant way to do just that given you’re suffering from poor posture. In this competitive world where demands are ridiculous and exceptional, we must do whatever we can we get some edge.
