Gnoland is a blockchain L1 project launched in 2020 by Jae Kwon, co-founder of Cosmos and Tendermint. Its goal is to create a decentralized, secure and scalable smart contract platform for people to create important applications, especially for censorship. Gnoland was created from a fork of Tendermint called New Tendermint. It also comes with Gno Lang, an interpreted golang-like language for writing Realms (smart contracts on Gno). Gnoland is looking to adopt a dual token model similar to Cosmos' original idea, where the "fee utility" is stripped from the governance token. This is to maximize the sustainability and usability of token economics. Gnolang is the language for writing smart contracts called Realms on Gnoland. You can think of it as an interpreted version of Golang: developers upload their domain sources to the chain and GnoVM performs its AST interpretation. There will be an active verifier set of 334 verifiers, selected from contributors and active community members. The goal is to spread the verifier set among a diverse set of participants.
