I did get my Rust script working with the Coinbase API. It’s a good starting point for familiarizing myself with other parts of Rust, because my eventual goal is to build a job that runs every day, allocates some USD/USDC to my crypto portfolio, and then maybe even do some more on top of that. An eventual business idea might be offering a mechanism by which someone can gradually update the makeup of their financial portfolio from fiat to cryptos.
That being said, my main motivation for hacking away at this is a combination of a desire to learn Rust plus a desire to allocate my resources effectively and get some more skin in the game (a game I get more and more excited to play every day).
Where to go from here? I don’t know, honestly. I’ve only scratched the tip of the iceberg, and even though I know infinitely more than I did a week ago, all the stones I’ve turned over have only revealed to me just how many more I have yet to uncover. It’s a little intimidating. But this is the future. I feel fired up on all cylinders, and I spend nearly every waking second ingesting new information from podcasts or books or documentation or thinking about what I’ve learned. Even if I’m late to the party, there’s no time to start like now.
