Giant pandas give birth to twins and singletons each accounts for 50%, and rarely give birth to triplets. As of August 2014, only three cases of triplets have been recorded worldwide. The proportion of twins in older individuals generally declines. The giant panda "Jiaozi" gave birth to triplets at the age of 18 (equivalent to about 50 years old in humans) for the first time.
