Today is the first Monday after I found out about quiet quitting. Spent all day cleaning up my personal to-do list. while still delivering my work. There are some tips I found useful.
Use multiple chrome profiles for “work” and “personal” if you don’t have separate computers. If you use Mac, you can create multiple desktops and put the personal chrome in the centre of the desktops showing that you value it the most as you should.
The first thing of your day is not to clean up your work inbox/to-do list, it’s to clean up your personal reminders. Did you send the postcard? Did you cancel Apple TV+ so it won’t charge you automatically after the free year? You’ll be more productive after solving all these.
Even during working hours, you still prioritize your personal matters. If you suddenly remember you need to arrange a health check or pay an overdue bill, you do it immediately, or at least add it to the reminder.
I suggest you create a Monday/Trello/Asana board for your personal life. YOU yourself should be the biggest project in your life. Developing your interests, learning new things, making new friends, seeing more of this world, planning your financial freedom, and keeping fit.
While you focus on yourself, it doesn’t mean you don’t work on your jobs, you do, respectfully. You make money and you learn from your job, how good the deal is? You should be thankful to have the opportunity to test your abilities and make something happen. However, you need to remember you are more important than your job. You add value to the company and earn what you deserve. Sometimes you might find it hard to say no to some tasks, just remember, even if you miss out on some projects, you can always find other chances.
And if you don’t focus on yourself, your personal to-dos are easy to be dragged along and you usually only do it when it’s too late. The feeling of not taking care of yourself will only make your mental health worse.
Don’t wait until the holiday to focus on yourself, do it on the daily basis.
