I am either addicted to a thing, or completely lose interest. For the first 3 months of this job I worked around the clock and couldn’t stop checking work messages and accepting new missions, hence the burnout.
This morning I had a meeting with my manager. At the end of the meeting, he say he’s gonna invite me to a telegram group with a partner for some urgent design requests. After 2 days of recovering I was feeling better and got 100% intention to do this right, so I wait.
I wait and I wait, I even hold the urge to go number two just because I don’t want the partner to wait for the urgent design request. I texted my manager about the status, he’s not online. I work on the partner’s design files but I don’t know the request, so I wait.
I learned a new trick today: disappear after the meeting. Especially with the remote team. Your personal life is more important and I made a big mistake not going to the restroom just for the partner’s “maybe-urgent” request.
So after clock I turned on “Do Not Disturb” mode, launched Netflix and I’m determined to not think about work. It’s really hard. I’m distracted even watching my favourite show. Guess I have a lot to learn.
