Job Search Diary - Week 3.

This past week was a relatively positive one - I had some conversations that seem promising and two polite rejections.

The fascinating thing this is - cryptocurrency regulation is a new and evolving space, right? The chances that a VASP is going to find someone with significant experience in the space is rather slim.

What do I offer? My significant Financial Crime Compliance experience, my knowledge of crypto-assets ( I have an organic interest in this space) and my ability to anticipate regulatory stick points - I will explore this in my piece on the FATF Travel Rule later in the week.

I do appreciate recruiters who provide considered feedback on why an offer was not extended. So far, I have had the below

  1. Not enough experience in virtual assets compliance - Fair.

  2. Not enough experience setting up compliance frameworks - again, fair.

I have taken the feedback in my stride, not much I can do about either at this stage if the opportunity to actually be in these situations isn't given, right?

For the first time, I 'shot my shot' at someone I worked for in the past, the reporting chain was rather far removed so he might not remember me, but you never know if you don't try! :-)

In the meantime, we go again. We keep on exploring and applying until a great situation is found.

Happy Monday everyone and to my fellow jobseekers, those in-between jobs, those looking to land at a spot that matches their interests and passion - I am rooting for you.

See you next week! :-)
