Relay: web3 communication and identity
daopanel rebrands as Relay, the place to control your web3 life. The wallet encrypted chat client relay.cc is usable right now.Foundations A few months ago, in the process of designing and creating a feature-rich DAO governance dashboard, a key requirement revealed itself. Our proposal drafting and delegate interactions need messaging to function, and to do that with a long-term view, the messaging must adhere to web3 standards of decentralization and encryption. Our search for solutions led ...

Explore the web3 world
We're excited to announce the launch of Relay's new web3 app directory! Inspired by the ecosystem landscape posts for web3 music and Lens, we created the easiest way to discover quality web3 projects. Go to relay.cc and explore! On top of finding curated projects, you can also message them. The directory is integrated with Relay’s Receiver chat, enabling messaging to an app’s ENS or Lens handle. This messaging is end-to-end encrypted on the XMTP network, open-source, and also free t...
Blogs here saved for the new defunct startup which had the 2021-2023 pivots from Daopanel, to Relay messaging (XMTP client), to Chainagent.

Today we are launching the first encrypted and decentralized wallet-to-wallet chat, usable now at relay.cc.
Built on top of XMTP, Relay is a foundational piece of our public goods governance infrastructure. Panel is focused on building tools for delegates to govern well, and there is a requirement for uncensorable and private web3 communication for the DAO decision makers. Internal subjects such as treasury movement, DAO to DAO token swaps, and delegate messaging should be encrypted and be done with your ENS or wallet identity, with complete privacy.
Of course Relay is usable by anyone for any reason, with some use-cases highlighted below.
Relay Features:
XMTP client provides end-to-end encryption between ENS names or any chain’s wallet (EVM-specific to start, more soon)
ENS avatars
Browser notifications
Mobile support (Metamask browser and WalletConnect work best)
Upcoming:
EPNS notifications
Delegate to delegator messaging and polling
NFT creator to holder chat
Token-gated chatrooms
Upgrades including rich media content and emojis
Lens Protocol social graph connections
Beta Disclaimer: XMTP is nearing its production-ready release, so expect some minor bugs and crucially **your chats being deleted every week or so** as they clear the network. We are working closely with them to deliver the best possible client for their exciting and very needed protocol.
That's it for now, to start. Over the coming weeks Relay will be sharing more about our convictions and roadmap to improve governance velocity and outcomes.
With a team history going back to MakerDAO in 2017, we care deeply about DAO coordination. Relay will be the place for delegates and DAOs to discuss, share, debate, and succeed. We're excited to share the governance dashboard we’ve crafted; built to support proposal drafting & voting, delegate profiles, and token-gated discussions (ETA: July).
Relay also believes that any trusted and private governance platform must be a public good, informing our own plans to dissolve into a DAO ourselves. But more on that later.
We hope you love the secure and private chat we've built with Relay. Let us know what you think, and if you care about DAOs and delegate governance join our Discord and get in touch.
