Preface

The “High-Resolution Geochemical Survey of the Arabian Shield, KSA, through Stream Sediment and Heavy Mineral Concentrate Samples” project (the “PROJECT”) is a nationally funded project for a large regional-scale geochemical survey of the Arabian Shield, KSA.

This plan is proposed according to the PROJECT contract and the implementation plan to guide the field orientation survey which will be conducted in the PROJECT inception and planning phase. Field orientation survey is key to regional geochemical survey. The investigation will provide the basic knowledge and evidence for making project technical and implementation plan, which will include sampling, sample preparation, chemical analysis and mineral identification, data statistics and map compilation, report editing, as well as the quality control procedures, etc. To complete the PROJECT efficiently, scientifically, and with high quality, the Project team formulates the Field Orientation Survey Plan based on the study of the landscape, geology, minerals occurrences and previous geochemical exploration data, and CGS’s experience in geochemical exploration in desert areas at home and abroad. The plan will be finally put to use after approval from the Saudi side.
