In a world full of data, where connections hold the key to unlocking valuable insights, I embarked on a journey that transformed me into a passionate advocate of Graph. My journey into the world of Graph technology commenced when I crossed paths with an advocate who introduced me to The Graph. The immense potential of The Graph within the blockchain space fascinated me, and I found myself captivated by the Graph team’s unwavering commitment to open-source solutions and their inspiring vision. This deep inspiration propelled me to wholeheartedly embrace the role of a Graph Advocate. As I immersed myself in learning about The Graph and its transformative capabilities in the web3 landscape, a sense of excitement surged within me. As I sit down to pen this article, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me into the advocate I am today. Through the narrative of my personal story, I aim to take you on an exciting journey, uncovering my humble beginnings, the challenges I faced, the valuable lessons I learned, and the remarkable advantages that come with being a Graph advocate. Moreover, I will illuminate the extraordinary opportunities presented by graphs, while delving into the unwavering support and guidance provided by the passionate Graph AdvocatesDAO team, which have been instrumental in my growth and success. So, fasten your seatbelts as we dive deep into the thrilling world of Graph advocacy.
Through the intricate experiences I have gathered in my journey to become an advocate, I will share my personal experience and guide you through the process of becoming an advocate step by step. About six or seven months ago, I took the initiative to apply for the advocate position by completing the advocate program application form. Prior to moving forward with the application, it is imperative to possess a comprehensive understanding of your designated role and area of expertise. Here are the different roles you can undertake as an advocate. Content Creator, Event evangelist, Community care, Web3 welcomer, Text translator, and Technical teacher. I will explain each role later in the article. Please take the time to review the Advocates’ Code of Conduct. This document establishes a set of guidelines that all Graph Advocates are required to adhere to. Its primary objective is to promote a safe and inclusive environment within the Graph community, where individuals from all backgrounds feel welcomed and respected.
Once you have submitted the application form, you will receive an email containing instructions for scheduling two onboarding calls. These calls are crucial, as they involve 15-minute interviews with two members of the Graph AdvocatesDAO team. Passing both interviews is essential for progressing further in the application process. While the specific questions in an interview may fluctuate based upon the particular candidate, they commonly center around the position one has opted to pursue, and the reasons behind your selection of a particular role, in addition to one’s degree of knowledge regarding the overall Graph domain. Before submitting your application, I highly recommend investing time in studying the Graph Ecosystem and developing a robust comprehension of its operations.
This journey has proved to be an ongoing voyage of learning, with the Graph team and fellow Graph advocates serving as invaluable founts of knowledge and constant sources of inspiration. As a newcomer, you don’t need to delve into every intricate detail. The Graph provides comprehensive Documentation on its website, and the Graph Academy is an excellent resource for learning. The academy even offers free certifications, adding an attractive incentive to your learning journey. Obtaining these certificates can significantly enhance your chances of a successful Advocate application. In my case, I learned from my initial mistake of not thoroughly studying the Graph ecosystem, which resulted in my rejection. However, I used that experience as an opportunity to delve deeper into the Graph, acquire certifications from the Graph Academy, and proudly showcase my achievements on Twitter and LinkedIn. Encouraged by a fellow Graph Advocate, I decided to reapply, and my persistence eventually paid off as I was selected. The community, particularly Graph AdvocatesDAO team, has been remarkably supportive throughout my journey. You are encouraged to ask as many questions as you like and rest assured that you will receive timely and helpful responses. Trust me when I say that if you choose to apply, you won’t regret it.
