Hi, this morning(or whatever your time is) I’ll be going through the process of minting an nft from contract. pretty sure if you’re into nfts especially on the Ethereum blockchain you’ve seen projects just drop their contract addresses or maybe seen people say minting from contract is safer than interacting with the project’s website and you don’t know how to- I promise you by the end of this, you’ll feel like a web3 dev for a minute. *please do not be annoyed by the use of bozo in this article- I use it a lot while writing for web3 bozos like me.
STEP 1 - Have the contract address for the project (ofc bozo).
STEP 2- Please do not send money to the contract my guy.
STEP 3- Once you’ve clicked on the contract address you got in STEP 1, you should be looking at a web2 render of the contract address(please let my faux web3 shaming of web2 slide), scroll down past the Overview area and look for a tab called contract and select it.
STEP 4- After selecting contract, under that you should see “read contract” or “write contract”- click “write contract”.
STEP 5- Under “write contract” click “connect to web3” and connect your wallet to etherscan.io.
STEP 6- Are you feeling the dev vibes yet, wait and see.
STEP 7- Below that tab while remaining in the “write contract” part should be a list of functions such as; approve, renounceOwnership, mint, whitelistMint. Look for a mint or freemint tab if it’s a public mint or a whitelistMint function if it’s a whitelist mint kinda thing.
STEP 8- Select the appropriate function you want to use, two dialogue boxes will show up- payableAmount(ether) and amount(unit256). payableAmount(ether) is the price for the mint so put in 0 if it’s a free mint(ofc bozo) or whatever price if it’s a paid mint(in Ethereum not USD don’t forget). amount(unit256) is the number of nft-ees you want to mint could be 1, 2, 20 na you sabi.
STEP 9- Click the Write function under the dialogue boxes and pay the gas fee prompted by your Ethereum wallet.
STEP 10- Your transaction should complete and your nft will be minted to your wallet.
So did you feel like a dev? Well e no pass like that. Please note that if the gas fee prompt is extraordinary, i.e. 1eth, 2eth then the nft has probably minted out or you’re using the wrong function. ciao, thanks for reading and be safe. oh yea- subscribe and follow my twitter @blzdontrugme, thanks.
