This guide is intended for those who are new to ALEX and the STX ecosystem, on how to install and setup Hiro Wallet and join ALEX Mainnet.
To keep our walk-through as standardized as possible, we strongly recommend installation and use of the Google Chrome Browser.
If you do not currently have Chrome installed, open a new tab in your existing browser, go to www.google.com/chrome and select “Download Chrome.”
Chrome is available for all operating systems and is a straightforward installation.

Appendix:1. Saving your Secret Key. This a critical step you should take seriously. These 24 words will allow anyone anywhere to have full access to your wallet. Also if you lose these words, you lose your account and wallet permanently. Do not store these words on an internet or cloud connected device. For instance, emailing the words to yourself, saving them on your hard-drive, or taking a photo with your smart phone leaves your account vulnerable to hackers. We recommend you “Copy to clipboard”, paste into a document/text editor, print 3–5 physical copies (then close document without saving), store each physical copy in a different secure location, such as a home safe and bank safety deposit box. Please conduct additional research on securely storing your crypto wallet keys. When you are ready, select “I’ve saved it” to proceed.
Set a password for your device. This password is a shortcut so that you can access your wallet on this specific browser without having to enter the Key Phrase each time. If you lose this password, you are not locked out of your wallet, you can just uninstall and reinstall Hiro Wallet on your browser. Once you enter the Secret Key Phrase, you’ll be asked to create a new password. If you download and open Hiro Wallet in another browser or on a different computer, again after entering your Secret Key Phrase you’ll be asked to create a new password. The security risk for this password is less than your Secret Key Phrase however, if your password is taped to your computer monitor, anyone using your computer will have access to your wallet with just this password. Equally, a hacker that can remotely login to your computer, can use this password alone to access your wallet on your computer. Remain cautious and vigilant! Once password is set, select “Done.”
