The first half of ETHIndia was all about speed-running through Ethereum development! LFG!
The 1st week was all about learning the basics of the web3 tech stack. Learnt all about scaffold-eth, using hardhat to compile & deploy smart contracts, sub-graphs, ethereum components & hooks on react, including using the etherscan & infura apis and more! After learning where all the pieces go, the challenge was to build an app that allows users to mint, purchase & transfer NFTs.
Once we understood our way around, we dived next into staking. The challenge was to build a decentralised staking app, where users can coordinate a group funding effort. After failing test cases & struggles with the Goerli network which was acting up at the time, I finally managed to deploying my Staker contract.
The 2nd week also had 2 challenges!
Creating a token vendor - basically a contract to buy & sell ERC20 tokens using the approve pattern & involving a lot of contract to contract interactions. Passed all the test cases at the first try & went straight onto the next one!
The next one was quite an interesting challenge - we had to exploit a contracts that used the block-hash as a weak form of randomness. The goal was to play a dice game, where you could predict the result of the dice beforehand & only roll when you knew you’d definitely get a win.
