The Base network is committed to creating a thriving ecosystem for builders, and one of the most effective ways to achieve this is through grant programs that empower innovative projects and teams.
Base has distributed grants through a variety of channels:
Hackathons: such as ETH Denver and 100 Builders
Onchain platforms: like Prop House programs (Onchain Summer, Build on Base, Based Accounts, Stand with Crypto)
Partnership programs: Base builders are also eligible for Optimism’s RetroPGF and funding from the Base Ecosystem Fund led by Coinbase Ventures.
One of the most important insights learned along the way is that speed matters. Getting capital into the hands of builders quickly is crucial—especially in the early stages of projects where things move fast.
To bridge this gap, Base is launching Builder Grants. These are small grants designed for builders who are:
working on early ideas,
experimenting with initial prototypes,
or hacking away during nights and weekends.
Like other Base grant programs, Builder Grants are an experiment—but one that aims to provide faster and more accessible support for early builders.
With Builder Grants, Base is showing its commitment not only to established projects but also to those at the very beginning of their journey. By lowering barriers and speeding up support, Base continues to grow a vibrant ecosystem where anyone can build and thrive.
