It all started with the desire to create something unique that would attract attention and inspire with the idea that no one had ever used before. And I think I got it.
The history of Pi Square began long before I knew about cryptocurrency. One day, the idea came to me to create a picture, each pixel of which would be randomly generated, which would just make noise. However, it wouldn’t make any sense and I forgot about it.
Years later, I came into cryptocurrency and, as a result, NFT. I immediately realized that NFT is a struggle for an idea, and “random pixels” immediately came to mind. Since then, I started to refine this idea and I decided to use Pi number instead of random numbers, since it is also infinitely long.
It was August 2021 and I finally came up with…
My art was supposed to look like this: a 100x100 pixel image, each of which is directly related to the Pi number, but let’s go in order.
As you know, each pixel has a color, which is indicated by a HEX code consisting of 6 numbers or letters. Example: #EA1832
My task was to fill in all 10,000 pixels, choosing the color of each using Pi number. I copied the first 60,000 digits of Pi and divided them into 6 numbers.

Now I had to copy combinations of 6 numbers, and fill 10,000 pixels with the colors that I got. It looked something like this:
I expected to finish in 100 days, but I did it in 50. However, I had to do 100–300 pixels every day for almost 2 months and it took about 30–90 minutes a day. At times it was very hard and monotonous, but I didn’t give up.
Also, Pi Square has its own Instagram, where I posted the entire process of it’s creating.
And finally, in October 20, 2021 I painted over the last pixel!
Above is a Pi Square at 1000x1000, as the original 100x100 blurs the image. The colors of some pixels have changed their color due to different color profiles, so you can download the original from the link below and see that each subsequent pixel is part of the Pi number.

Firstly, I wanted to mint this art for sale, but plans changed and the project was closed. And now, 2 years later, I can finally share my work with someone.
