Atticc is an entirely new kind of social media. A new application, built with new technology, for a new audience, in a new era of the internet we call Web3.
After nearly 4 months of building, the Atticc team is excited to announce that Atticc Beta is going live!
So what is Atticc?
Atticc is probably the first Web3 social media purpose-built for NFT communities with a range of crypto native features.
There are plenty of emerging Web3 social applications being built on the premise of decentralised alternatives of existing solutions.
Atticc takes a different approach.
We are strong proponents of decentralisation, otherwise why else even be here? However decentralisation alone is not a reason for consumer adoption. Consumers would not use an application just because it’s decentralised, they use it because of the utilities and experience it provides. Atticc provides rich utilities and a refreshing experience to our users. We decentralise to the extent that it improves the user experience, rather than hurting the user experience for the sake of decentralisation.
So what are the utilities that Atticc provides? An intuitive application should not require an instructions sheet. We want you to try it and instantly understand how it works. So without going into too much detail, here’s a list of features on Atticc:
A personal profile for every Ethereum wallet address’ on-chain identity.
Decentralised and interoperable social graph.
Decentralised and interoperable instant messaging.
Peer-to-peer NFT trading with any ERC20/721/1155 token.
Communities based on NFT contracts, 1 NFT = 1 community with 1-click activation.
Community creation by launching an NFT for minting in under a minute.
Flexible community NFT parameters which are adjustable on the fly.
Data analytics dashboard for every NFT community.
Token-gated content without any manual set up.
Tipping with ETH.
AI moderator.
To date developers as well as investors have focused more on infrastructure and middleware. This is justified because we are still very early, a lot of important infrastructures are yet to be built. In the Web3 social space, account abstraction, decentralised storage, social recovery wallets and standards for soulbound tokens are all areas that require significant development effort.
However similar to how increasingly demanding software applications pushed the advancement of computer hardwares, blockchain applications and infrastructure will likely develop in a similar pattern. Applications born from the purpose of satisfying consumer needs will guide the advancement of infrastructure and middleware.
Atticc is such an application. With the infrastructure we have today, we can already create a compelling Web3 social experience, powerful enough to provide significant value to certain audiences in certain social scenarios. The Atticc team went down the trenches to build with a range of vetted technologies. By fully embracing the composability and interoperability of blockchain technologies, we were able to create a Web3 social experience never seen before in a relatively short period of time.
Decentralised social graph (CyberConnect) enabling user owned identity that’s interoperable across different apps.
Decentralised and end-to-end encrypted wallet-to-wallet chat (XMTP) that stays with the user across different apps.
Audited, secure and gas optimised NFT trading protocol (0x).
AI moderator which we aim to train to become a humanised representation of a community on Atticc in the metaverse (OpenAI).
Decentralised storage (IPFS) for NFTs launched on Atticc enabling true user ownership.
The evolution of dominant Web2 social medias result from changes in content format aimed at inducing a stronger dopamine response, with internet speed being a key enabler. Dial-up internet brought us BBS forums, broadband brought us Facebook, 3G brought us WhatsApp, 4G brought us Instagram and 5G brought us TikTok. TikTok and apps of similar kind will likely dominate mainstream social media until the next major change in content format. AR and VR are strong contenders, explaining the significant investments made by Apple on AR, and Meta on VR.
But at the same time, social medias also exist due to the different social scenarios they serve. Tinder has a worse messaging experience than WhatsApp but thrives on the dating scene; BeReal’s photo sharing functionality is terrible compared to Instagram but meets people’s desire for authenticity; Reddit’s UI looks like it was from 10 years ago but caters to niche interest groups who often prefer anonymity; OnlyFans is buggy but it has, well, a lot of fans.
A successful Web3 social media will fall into the latter category. Although it has the great promises of returning the ownership of identity, data and monetisation to users themselves, such promises do not induce a stronger dopamine response. How a Web3 social media can win, is by serving a special social scenario.
We now have such a special social scenario. NFT communities.
On the surface, the NFT boom looks like a party of the degens, with profit being the only purpose. Diving deeper, you will find interesting new social behaviours. Communities are forming around digital assets. New methods of human cooperation are emerging. Radical transparency and constant communication are expected from projects. NFT communities speak a language which outsiders can hardly understand, and new stories are being told in such a language.
All of the above creates a social scenario which current social medias cannot and do not care to satisfy. Atticc is born to serve this new social scenario, and cater to this new audience. The Atticc team is best positioned to do this, because we are our own audience.
To reach Web3, there is a long road ahead of us. Important applications often start out looking like toys. Generation defining technologies often seem like gimmicks at the beginning. A demographic of the future is often dismissed as outliers at a young age.
Atticc is willing to be a gimmicky toy for outliers.
We may be small, we may be ignored, we may be laughed at, until we won’t be.

We are on our way, are you coming with us?
