The Mission of my business, Resilient Living, LLC, Is to help people understand the trans that are affecting our lives and develop their careers based on their interest and their skills. We must manage our careers like we manage a business. Depending on a single source of income is risky.

I took three years of Mechanical Engineering before joining the Army where I served as a Radio Maintenance Technician. One of my army buddies told me he was going to Forestry school when he was discharged. Forestry, what’s that? He explained and it sounded interesting. I got books on forestry. I interviewed working foresters. I joined the Society of American Foresters. When I was discharged I got jobs in sawmills and worked for the Forest Service.

While I was in forestry school, I worked summers on a field crew surveying logging roads. In the winter while going to school I designed the roads we had surveyed during the summer. I was a member of the forestry club and photographer for the College Annual.

As a career counselor, I help my clients find the niche they want to pursue and develop a strategy for success. In your case you have your niche, we just have to focus it.

A word of caution; Extreme Weather will cause unlivable conditions in most of the world. Shortages of mineral resources will force people to live simpler lives. Electrical grids will fail. Copper will be more expensive than gold. We are in a race between nature and technology and I expect nature to win. Understand the chaos you will have to deal with in your lifetime and be as prepared as possible.

My grandma used to tell me that I was a Jack of all trades and a master of none. She forgot the rest of the story. “And better for it.” Be a polymath. Be a Master of one skill but be good at all the things you need to survive.

I was raised during the great depression. I have lived through WWII, the atomic bomb, the Korean Police Action, Vietnam, the Cold War, and terrible carnage in the Middle East. I have lived during the best time for humanity in the history of the world.

Live with purpose, enjoy the moment, be aware, be prepared, and above all else be resilient.
