     What is a second layer solution (Layer2)?

Not all here are experienced cryptans who have a lot of experience behind their backs and an already formed knowledge base, there are quite a few newcomers. And just for them this post will be interesting.

What is L2 and why they will discover trillions of values, let's go👇

Layer2 (L2) is a way to securely scale Ethereum. Aether takes a modular approach that uses a layered system. L2 works on top of ETH, hence the name - Layer2 translated as Level 2.

L2 executes transactions outside of its network. Once completed, they send compressed forms of transactions back to ETH, which in turn ensures the security of transactions and guarantees decentralization.

All L2 does is take on the transactional "load" and then send it back. This means that ETH is becoming less congested and faster. There is no limit to the amount of L2 that can run on ETH which means we can scale at high TPS rates.

The L2 universe is huge, among the tops we can distinguish: Arbitrum, Optimism, ZkSync, StarkNet and many more.

L2 solutions generally come in two types: Optimistic rollups and ZK rollups.

➡️Optimistic rollups • Optimism:

  • Uses one-round fraud proofs;

  • Relies on L1 to perform L2 transactions;

  • Verification of evidence of fraud is instant (but has higher gas fees). • Arbitrum:

  • Uses multi-round fraud proofs;

  • Transactions are not fully executed on L1.

➡️ZK-rollups • ZkSync, StarkNet:

  • ZK rollups need cryptographic proof that the transactions were correct. Each batch of trans will have its own proof of authenticity.
