DYOR cheatsheet #2: Blockgames Dice NFT

This is part of a series of Projects ID card, which aims at helping investors to access all information they need to DYOR before aping in on a project.

  • The Dice NFT: Free minted Dice NFTs, with seven levels of rarity, increase $BLOCK earnings when using the app. Owners of unlisted Dice receive additional points weekly. Access to the Blockgames app requires a Dice NFT access code.

Intro

Player acquisition is notoriously difficult and expensive for mobile games. This is the exact problem that Blockgames is going after.

The team believes that in-game achievements, playtime, in-game purchases should yield rewards to the players.

To solve this, Blockgame introduces an app for discovering and playing new games, rewarding players for hitting in-game milestones. The players are rewarded through the $BLOCK token.

$BLOCK token

The Blockgames app

The Blockgame app is essentially a list of games, ranging from very popular titles to less known ones. Users that play those games and unlock in-game achievement are rewarded with points that will be claimable for $BLOCKs

  • Alpha release launched December 15th (source Discord)

  • Currently about 10 games in the app. 200+ game partnerships signed and to be released gradually (source Discord)

  • Will support many chains. Currently Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Arbitrium (Source Website)

  • building this app for the masses, but want to do a gradual onboarding, initially only Dice holder can access (Source Twitter AMA)

  • So far, very strong release cycle. They are building a complex app with many moving pieces and so far the releases speed have been impressive (source personal experience)

  • If you hold Dice NFT you will earn more in-game reward (source: all over the place)

The Dice NFT

  • Dice were a free mint

  • Dice have revealed december 12th with 7 lvl of rarity (source: Discord)

    • Each level as a different multiplier

    • Multiplier increase your $BLOCK earning when using the app

  • Each owned unlisted Dice will also add you a 1000 points per week ($Block Airdrop documentation)

How does the Blockgames app work

  • Get an access code (those come from holding a Dice NFT)

  • Download the app on your phone. As of now the game is a mobile web app (not install from the app store but from the Blockgame website)

  • Login with email

  • Select the games that you want to play to play

  • Install the game

    • If you already installed that game in the past, even without play time, the connection will not work

    • Once the game is installed make sure to allow the app to track your data

    • Wait about 30 mins to see the app appearing in your installed apps

  • Play the game to unlock achievement and increase your weekly $BLOCK rewards

Roadmap

  • Open Beta (Early Q1 2024). Currently the app is opened only for Dice holders

  • More title added constantly to the Alpha test app

  • $BLOCK TGE. ETA Q1 2024

Investment Thesis

Blockgames is going after a $70 billion / year industry, with a unique reward system that leverage blockchain technology. The team seem very qualified and achieved significant milestones in about a year since creation:

  • 200+ titles signed, with some very big hitters (monopoly Go, ..)

  • Fast release cycles with so far very few bugs

  • Successful mint of the Dice NFT collection. The collection reached an ETH of 0.85ETH. It’s now back at 0.42 after reveal
