The Best Crypto Gift

The best holiday gift you can give your friends and family interested in crypto is knowledge. It can be downright overwhelming starting out in crypto. Do you remember how much you were sweating the first time you sent a transaction? What’s gas? So this year, we thought we’d break down some helpful tips for getting everyone onboarded on-chain.

Centralized Exchanges: It’s become a dirty word this year, but it’s where most people are going to start. Share how easy it is to get set up and purchase their first crypto, even better, share with them some of your favorite coins and why they should invest in them. Make it easy for your friends by suggesting a reputable exchange. Hint: NOT FTX…

Crypto Wallets: The next step is to get them to have self-custody of their crypto. Ledger and Trezor wallets are both simple and trusted. MetaMask is also a great choice, and it’s free, not as secure as a hardware wallet, but a wonderful first step. The easiest way to get them started is by actually walking them through the setup and making their first transaction. Remember to explain how important it is to keep their seed phrase safe. We have an entire blog dedicated to it which would be an excellent read for them; “How to Keep Your Seed Phrase Safe.”

Crypto News: Weather it’s Coindesk, Cointelegraph, or Bankless, share some of your favorite crypto news sources. This will help keep them informed and feel confident they are in the loop. Even our Twitter is a great place to stay up to date.

Cointrackers: There are a few websites to track token prices and find the latest NFT, like CoinMarketCap and Cointracker.io, but CoinGecko is a great one to get them started.

NFTs: They are an easy concept to grasp, but it’s up to you to explain that NFTs are way more than JPEGs. Jump on Opensea and show them some of your favorites. Even better, create one with them! Using an L2 is essentially free and will be a great learning experience for them. They’ll secretly be learning way more about blockchain than they expected. It’s very easy to create NFTs using Opensea, and maybe it will be their next side hustle.

DEXs: Now they’ve got some crypto, what’s next? Decentralized exchanges are their next step into the crypto world. Introduce them to Uniswap or aggregators like Cow Swap or 1INCH. This will open their eyes to a decentralized life when they see the power of blockchain in action.

Etherscan: Maybe the greatest blockchain tool ever invented, Etherscan provides a great visualization of how a transaction works and gives them the confidence to know what’s happening when they click send on that transaction. Get them signed up and show them how to track their new wallet.

Discord: It seems like every crypto project has a Discord, and it’s a fantastic way to connect with projects and DAOs. You can ask their team and community questions, find out the latest updates and even join their DAOs. ICHI’s Discord is open to anyone, and we’d love for you and your friends to join our community. We love having open discussions and answering questions.

Zapper.fi: This isn’t step one but Zapper.fi is a great tool to track their portfolio and what’s going on in the crypto world once they’re up and running. Whether it’s NFTs, DeFi, or DAOs, they are a great resource.

ICHI: When they’re ready to start putting their crypto to work, you can explain the benefits of ICHI’s Vaults and how, with our concentrated liquidity management, it’s easy for them to earn more of their favorite tokens. Plus, with our single-token deposits, they don’t have to worry about perfectly balancing their pool position. ICHI’s Vaults does that for you.

Finally, if they ever have any questions, they can reach out to our team right here or on our Discord anytime.

Until then, happy holidays, and stay comfy!
